If there's a choice between getting Lescott for £25-30 million or signing Matthew Upson (our most likely back-up target should we give up on Lescott), i'd still do the Lescott deal any day.

I'd rather we walked away from both and brought in a player from abroad. The new man may be unproven at premier league, but Lescott is worth nowhere near 20 million, and I'm disappointed a few goals from set pieces have made Hughes think differently. Upson is even worse. Wenger didn't hang on to him for a reason and neither him or Lescott would get anywhere near the first team of any top 4 club. We've shown our ambition up front by bringing in Adebayor, Tevez etc. At the back we've just signed Toure, who I'm happy with, played for and captained a top 4 side, and has plenty of Champions League experience. A defensive partner of the same ilk is required and that is not Lescott or Upson.

We all knew this would get rejected, Everton know we have cash they dont want to sell etc.

Lescott knows this is probley the only chance to get his big move. He will have to ask leave soon or we will move to another target and we'll probley end up paying 20-22m.

There is still a huge part of this transfer window left , and many things can happen .

With respect to City , it isn't proven to be a big move .
Madrid , United , Liverpool , even Arsenal ( have you considered their interest ? ) etc etc yes , but untill you prove yourself , it has to be considered a step down , even if you won't like to hear that .

Wolves will take a 15% slice of anything above initial Wolves / Everton fee , and Lescott will get a loyalty bonus if he doesn't request a move .
I'm sure you can do the maths , then figure what's left for a replacement of similar quality .

No way you believe what you're saying.

the list of foreign defenders who have adapted instantly to the premiership is extremely small. vidic and hangeland took a little while. I doubt MH is willing to take that risk. If we end up with a quality player who plays poorly for the first 4 months, MH could be out of a job.

i disagree with the assesment that it's a 'step down', as it's only true from one particular point of view. however, I can see that the deal wasn't as favourable to everton as I thought it might be. the 15% is one big problem, but more than that, Moyes didn't get Naughton, and Cana's move to Sunderland shows that there will be a lot of competition for the type of players that Everton would be after. as much as everton don't want to be seen as a selling club, city won't want to be seen as a cash cow. this one is teetering on the edge. I'm not convinced that Lescott handing in a transfer request would change much.

Moyes won't let anything get in the way of his plans for the future , and that includes our board .
If he feels there is a benefit from losing Joleon , then I'm sure a price will be agreed , and Lescott will then be left to decide , hence saving us a loyalty bonus .

If Moyes feels there isn't a benefit , then there is no other manager in the Premiership with balls as big as the fiery Scotts , and if he says no , Joleon won't be going anywhere .

That'll be a first. I don't suppose there's any chance of you keeping your word for once and staying away is there ?

I don't suppose there's any chance of you not wriggling out of my ignore list again .... is there ?

If I'm on your ignore list then unless I'm quoted you can't see me. Have I been quoted ? No. So you were lying in an attempt to be humorous. That famous scouse sense of humour eh?
Seriously though, you only ever post derogatory remarks about City and try to dress them up as "your opinion" or "banter" Yet when you get a bit back, you start bleating like a woman.
It's all bollocks, the sooner the season starts and you fuck off, the better.
