Notice in our first rejected bid it mentioned in evertons statement we wont sell any of our top players and this time it does not mention this.

You are, of course, right, proving it on the pitch is what it's all about. However, when anyone, even the most biased of Evertonians, or for that matter United fans, look at our two prospective lineups the differences stand out. We have added top quality so far this Summer with Tevez, Barry, Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Toure. We WILL add another defensive player, whether it be Lescott or not. Add those to the likes of Ireland, Robinho, De Jong, Kaompany, Richards, Bridge, Bellamy and Given and you've got an extremely strong squad.

If, as I'd imagine many suspect, and the bookies would too, City make a challenge on the Top 4 this season and finish above Everton, I wonder what you Evertonians will cling to then in an attempt to prove your club is greater than ours.

I wouldn't suggest we're in your shadow at all, you've been better for a fair few seasons, but you've hardly been successful enough to cast a shadow. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and United cast a substantial shadow, the rest of the Premier League are all trying to find that elusive spot of sunshine.

Take off your tinted specs, you're taking the piss surely.

He's not bright enough to take the piss.

I think to city, MH and GC, getting lescott is worth 3/5 million more than a player from europe as he already knows and has proved himself in the prem, IMHO i dont think going into europe for a player is an option, every player bar none has been proven prem player this will continue.

Lescott isn't worth £25m. Does anyone honestly feel he's the same value as Adebayor and Tevez? Of course he isn't.

I didn't think he was worth 15! If he didn't score goals there's no way he would valued as highly. With all the attacking players we have you'd like to think scoring goals isn't going to be our problem this year! Tevez and Adebayor are world class international forwards that's why they're worth 25 million, Lescott is not an international, has never played for a top 4 club and is worth nowhere near as much as Tevez or Adebayor. To pay 20 million or more for a defender you'd expect a world class, proven international, comfortable on the ball etc, This is not Lescott. Time to go abroad and take a risk on a genuine top class defender who will hopefully suit the premier league.

agree with this totally. i don't think lescott is worth a penny more than 15 million. If Jagielka wasn't injured I'd rather have him. 15 million would easily get us Hangeland as well. Lescott is just not worth the money.

We could get a top top centre back from abroad for 25 million and 120k a week imo.
