Actually we did this last night. There are around 3 players in the Everton squad that would get in our 18, only 2 in starting 11.

There was some debate about Jagielka being as good as Nedum now hes fucked his cruciate. It was decided that he is not, certainly not now.....plus he wont play next season anyway so its a moot point.

the thing that confuses me, is that, by your own estimation, City should be ahead of Everton the season after next, but you don't accept that this may be a factor in Jolean's thinking.

Ok, I see what your saying mate, but that is such a massive ask, even if you can buy everything in the world....come Xmas...Hughes could be out....and another manager in,
this will also be a factor in his decision.

At Everton, we have cracking bunch of players that are mates, and a very close unit....Lescott, by all acounts is one of the main men in this, gets them all together, nights out, trips, parties....family days etc.

Thats alot to give up, BUT everything has a price !

hughes could well be out if we are languishing in the bottom half. this is true. It certainly should enter Jolean's thinking. It comes with the territory. Moyes can afford a poor season. He will be in the job this time next year come what may. This gives your players have a rare kind of security. if moyes continues to rate them, they will remain at the club. City's owners would not accept a very poor start to the season. Hughes has been backed to the hilt. After last season, time is perhaps not a luxury he has any-more. This seems to be the reason we have signed players from other Premiership clubs. We have also targeted players reknown for having leadership qualities (Barry, Terry, Toure). It's no suprise to me that Jolean is well thought of at Everton. He is exactly the kind of player we are looking for. One commentator noted, that Hughes has signed the type of player who will make his life easier for him, players who themselves will help organise and motivate the team. Lescott plays for his team, and responds well to being challenged. Coming here involves accepting a huge challenge. The owners have stated that finishing behind Everton in 6th is the lowest acceptable outcome this season. Many inside and outside the club appear to believe that we have as good as a 50/50 shot of finishing in the top four. The expectation is already huge. The sky is the limit. The obstacles to be overcome this season alone are myriad. Fail, the manager is out, you may very well be out.

Does that sound like the kind of challenge that some ambitious people respond to?

Of course money is important. The players, and families will be secure financially from their first contracts, and the money is what makes the ambitions more than a pipe dream. You can easily argue that it would be totally different without the money.

But is it really all that an ambitious player like Jolean would be thinking of?

You had 7k empty seats at some games....you cant start using crowds and crowd noise when it siuts.

you DONT have the best fans in the country....you don't have the best fans in the North West...you don't have the best fans in Manchester, ffs, just let go of that pathetic argument.

Nice people

Hughes will be in that job till next summer at least. The owners are obvious very calm.

Do you seriously think that city squad will be int he bottom half o f the table come CHristmas with only the league to concentrate on.

That really is a bit of woshfull thinking from the opposition fans !

Christ mate we had a higher attendance than your ground holds and you didnt fill your ground, I can't blame the everton fans not singing fucking long ball football is boring as fuck

you will find it hard in the europa league playing away on a thursday night then having a league game on a sunday with a small squad, no time to recover from injuries where as we will have a whole week to prepare for games, that is why we will finish above you this season unless you get knocked out of europe very early.

Why oh why does every decent discussion with visiting supporters have to descend into a childish slanging match at the level of 'my dad's bigger than you're dad'?
