i geniunely do wonder when cook/hughes cut off point is for this 1, it cant be long at all now!

I'm surprised they've waited this long to be honest.

I think the time has come for us now to move on.£22m is the absolute maximum and if Lescott isnt willing to hand in a transfer request then he obviously is 100% commited to moving to us.

Hughes has had a good go at getting PL players but its time to look abroad.Bruno Alves or Luisao are both excellent players who wouldnt cost as much as Lescott.

He has not put in a written transfer request.

It definately wont happen unless he does this and at the moment he seems to have pussied out. His loss really is if he is willing to be bullied by Moyes out of such a great move for him.

At the moment I cant see this happening for this reason.
So you keep saying

We don't know what he has done and what he hasn't done, or whether a written request has any more significance as far as Everton are concerned than a verbal request

i've been a fan of hughes targeting proven prem players, but i agree i think maybe a punt abroad is worth it, all his prior signings have the proven prem tag so 1 or 2 non proven would'nt be a huge risk imo, united and liverpool have both bought quality centre halves in recent years that were un-proven. having said that i am a lescott fan, but the timescale of this is worrying me

We have been very good in this transfer window. Cook has proved he is no mug. We will have set a maximum price and we will have set an internal deadline. If this does not happen by Friday we will move on. Other targets will have been sounded out.

If the speculation is true about Bassong refusing to travel with Newcastle for a pre-season match against Dundee and being fined two weeks wages then he won't have done himself any favours in terms of impressing Hughes as an alternative to Lescott. Flash 'Arry probably won't mind...
