Re: official move for Lescott today...

As much as you rate Richards , you have to understand it's City who want to push a deal , and Everton rate Lescott too .

You can't really expect to get 50% of one of the best full back partnerships out there without a little compromising .

£8-9 MILL + Jo is simply unrealistic .
Believing Richards to have shown the same quality as Lescott is admirable , but a little unrealistic too in the eyes of any Everton fan .
He was our player of the year last year , and beginning to stamp his mark on the England team . He plays left back just as well , and also offers a formidable attacking option .

Yes , Micah is young , and has already achieved a lot of acclaim , but Everton can't afford to take on a player that goes missing as much as Richards did last year as a replacement for one who doesn't ( at least not regularly ) .

At just under 28 , Lescott is already in his prime , and ready to go .
Richards has huge potential , but can Everton wait for that to come to fruition when they are on the verge of breaking the top 4 now ?

We lose Lescott , and with Jags already out , we are without leadership across the back line a little surely . Is Richards a leader ?

We won't do a straight swap in a month of Sundays .
We might settle for either player plus a large figure .
We might settle for a huge fee outright .
We might invest elsewhere and keep Lescott . ( best option for us ) .

City will never give Richards in the deal, forget that. We turned down 22m from Chelsea and Rags last summer. He's just had a dip in form which is normal for 19-20 year olds who burst on the scene.

How good is Richards ?
Be honest btw , as after all , it's not me that's buying anyone .

He will be better than Lescott.

Jo+8-10m I could see happening yea. Richards+money? No way.

agreed
i think £15million + jo on loan is realistic and fair richards +£15million is just ridiculous and a great loss to us.
But Jo on loan is not really worth anything in monetary terms and I don't see Moyse accepting 15 million when Jaggers is still out injured. We will probably have to pay at least 20 million to secure the services of Lescott, who is presently on holiday here in the UAE so you can expect ADUG to be giving him plenty of hospitality right now.

Re: official move for Lescott today...

Will he reach that potential once more amidst the new City though , or is he best getting out of there and working under Moyes ?
How does he get on with Hughes and the other players ?
Does he still feel valued ?
Is his temperment likely to get in the way of Hughes plans ?

Is there any indication that he wants to leave City ?

I haven't heard a single rumour in this window that suggests clubs are still after him with vigour .

Re: official move for Lescott today...

A sensible deal for all parties could be something along the lines of £15-£18m+Dunne. This is presuming that Dunne is actually going or even wants to. Everton get a replacement defender and plenty of cash to develop other area's and if Dunne is as settled in the area as reports suggest then he wouldnt even have to move house and still gets first team football. If Dunne wants to stay at the club and fight though I would not push him out of the door.

Re: official move for Lescott today...

TBF i find it ridiculus that any one will honestly believe city will need to swap probably the best defender in the league in the 07/08 season bar ferdinand and terry in richards, plus 15 million, dont be stupid, we spent 18mill on jo so the best deal everton can hope for is probably 15 million cash or 8 million cash plus jo.
