The request went in yesterday and Everton contacted City to let them know. As much as Moyes is saying NO there's someone at the club that's prepared for the worst...

Don't get why you are getting so wound up. Everton wants to keep on of their best players and they want top dollar from a team throwing silly money around. That's their prerogative.

Seems to me you expect teams to bend over simply cause you got a lot of money. It just won't happen here, and looking at the money you spend atm. it won't happen in the future either.

Either accept you need to pay the price set by Everton, or move on.

Cheers for that Stu.....
Stu,you say we will be asking Everton for the players medical information tomorrow? do they have to release it or are we a bit further down the line than what the press are saying? Surely if Woodentooth and the theatre luvvy are saying hes not for sale then how can we ask for this info?

They dont have to release any information, but if they want a transfer to go ahead that is the first thing that happens, as we recieve the information myself and around 16 other staff will ponder over it and make a valuation for the player, club then submit that to Everton and they try to agree a fee and the rest follows medical etc...not a clue how far down the transfer is or isn't, but info will be requested tomorrow morning.

If true that's very interesting. If Everton have no intention of selling regardless then why would they feel the need to inform City Lescott had put in a transfer request?

"Hi, is that Mr Hughes? Just to let you know, Lescott has asked to leave Everton. We're still never selling him and don't want you to bid any more money for him, but we just thought you'd like to know".

Incidentally what makes you think Everton informed City?

Article 17
Article 17 of FIFA's Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players is entitled "Consequences of Terminating a Contract Without Just Cause", and is the fifth article of Chapter IV, "Maintenance of Contractual Stability between Professionals and Clubs". It outlines the provisions which apply if a contract is terminated without just cause, and the requirement for the party in breach to pay compensation.[9] Specifically, it states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed. If he is 28 or older the time limit is shortened to two years.[10][11] Article 17 was introduced in December 2004, with effect from 1 July 2005

When did Lescott sign his latest deal at Everton??

March 2009 :)

I find it comically embarrassing that a football fan would be "smug" even after one of their players has submitted a written transfer request. It shows the level of jealousy which abounds, that getting one over on City is more important than having good squad harmony.

I still don't see what exactly it is Moyes is gaining from behaving like this other than ensuring that he is still inadvertently taking it up the arse from Ferguscum...

One way or the other we will have a new centre back. It would be some kind of karma if we end up signing someone else and leave Lescott so unsettled that it not only effects his performances, but also the morale of the entire Everton squad...
