Dunne is 30 soon , so it's not a long term fix , and he would have zilch resale value .
Moyes likes young players , and though we have a few oldies ourselves , we need to look at getting young blood into our positions long term .

It wouldn't make sense to take Dunne and less money , when we could get a loan signing , or buy outright a younger player .
I still think Lescott will stay unless a huge fee is agreed by far in favour of Everton .

Thats a more reasoned response allthough I think that either you underestimate Dunne or maybe I over rate him as he's ours. If Dunne goe's nowhere and we have him next season it would not be the end of the world.

For those saying a good deal for Everton is Dunne and 15m, or 15m and Jo on loan, you clearly have no idea about football or are just being disrespectful to Everton and Moyes.

Well I had no intention of being disrespctful to your club or manager so by your own statement I must "Clearly know nothing about football". Seeing as you are clearly the oracle on these matters can you explain to me why £15m-£16m + Dunne for Lescott would not be good business for Everton, who have restricted finances, should Lescott force this issue through ? bear in mind you also have Yobo and Jagielka, and to push on could do with strengthening other areas. If you got cash only for Lescott I could see it being £20m max, and as soon as you have that replacement defenders prices will go up, as selling clubs will know your budget.

I cannot see this deal happening until the January window, if it is going to happen at all. Reasons being as follows:

1. If he stays at Everton he has European football next season in a world cup year.

2. Jagielka as we know is out until November leaving only Yobo, and if we know one thing about David Moyes it is he will not be bullied into doing business he does not want to do.

3. Please remember that Evertons form from November on was superb. With the addition of 3 decent players and the return of Arteta and Yakubu they will be as usual be vying to challenge for a European place again. He will surely consider that as well if he is happy there, which he came out and said he was recently.

Taking all of the above into account, the only possible reason for him joining Man City prior to that is to double his salary. He does not strike me as that type of character from his media interviews, but if he does, good luck to him.

For those saying a good deal for Everton is Dunne and 15m, or 15m and Jo on loan, you clearly have no idea about football or are just being disrespectful to Everton and Moyes. The club has moved forward on the pitch a hell of a lot in recent years as results show. Dunne is a bit of a cart horse and not good enough for Everton.

If Everton got Jo and anything above 15m I would consider it decent business, as Jo is worth around 7 at least. I am sure Moyes would go out and find the somebody to replace him easily enough if given that cash to spend. 2 years ago maybe, but he looks a bit sluggish now.

You clearly missed him outrun Fernando Torres

Just an opinion, not exactly the way forward is he in truth? Like I said though, not good enough for Everton

how come rooney left then?

I apologise, it was a bit silly of me to say that bit, but the rest is 100% accurate. I don't think I am the oracle either, I just got a bit arsey after reading it :)

15m + Dunne for me would be terrible business. He may have been good for City in recent years, but other clubs are hardly lining up to sign him. He is dear to you and you have a percieved value of him because you have seen him regularly I expect. For Everton he would be a clear step backwards, and I don't know why we are even discussing it in truth, there isn't a cat in hells chance it would happen IMO!

Lescott can force the issue all he wants though ala Barry last year. If Moyes does not want him to go until he is ready he will not sell him. Lescott will have to ask for a transfer, and I honestly don't think he will do that after reading his recent comments, plus due to the other factors I mentioned it will just make him look like a complete mercenary as he has always stated how happy he is at Everton.

Pot. Kettle. Black. Or is respect a one-way street?

I happen to agree with you that anyone thinking Moyes will go for a deal at £15 million plus anyone on loan is mad - Moyes has no history of being bullied into transfers he doesn't want. There is another factor though, which is how Lescott sees the relative positions of the two clubs over the next four years, when he'll be in his prime. Everton will be there or there abouts next season, no doubt, but they're constantly doing it on a very thin budget and Moyes is clearly going to be in demand as a result of it. Everton won't be able to cut it spending-wise with The Rags, Us, Chelsea, Spurs or Villa so they're more at risk in terms of the vagaries of the transfer market than we are - that's a double edged sword, Lescott might not want to move to a club if he thinks that he'll be replaced by the next standard up in two years time.

I suspect Lescott will need to come out and say he wants a move. If he does, a deal I think will happen - £15 million plus Jo might be enough.
