Lescott may want to join a side that has higher aspirations that to finish 5th in the league.. and even though we may not achieve that next season at your expense , the chances of us consistently challenging for the title within the next 5 years are substantially higher than yours.

Therefore if your offered Dunne or Jo or Richards plus cash and the player wants the move then the Everton board should take what they can get.... that cash will help your excellent manager pick another bargain and keep you ticking over till you join the money train !..

If we hadn't had half a squad to play 38 matches plus cup matches last season , do you think we might just have pipped Arsenal ?
Remember our losses were the equivalent of Liverpool losing Gerrard , Torres , and Carragher , and then some , in importance to both teams per player .

We are already knocking on the top 4 door every year , and have been invited in once already .
We don't need to sell Lescott , unless it is very lucrative and beneficial to the team on the whole , and it is that debate which will go on for some time before any approach or decision is acknowledged .

Everton haven't got the finances to break the top four. Granted they did it once a few years ago, but they won't/don't do it regularly.

Which players are Everton linked with? Naughton? No disrespect to Naughton or Everton but he isn't going to make much difference now or when he is in his prime, in which case will be in 7-8 years time.

I think Everton have done well and deserve to be 5th and be in cup finals, but, good management and excellent team spirit isn't enough to break that top 4 on a regular basis. You need money for that little extra.

Lescott is 28 and may perceive City as a great opportunity purely because of the potential. One of those "you'll regert it if you don't" scenarios?

Re: official move for Lescott today...

You're not listening, DSOB.

Lescott wants a move and his agent is actively trying to get him him a deal elsewhere.

Everton will sell - reluctantly.

If you want my source, PM me. You may be surprised.

Re: official move for Lescott today...

Do you know a cheeky young scouse?
Who won't take his hand off the mouse?
His name starts with D,
and it ends with OB,
And he's probably robbing your house.

With thanks to Jnr Kinsby, my muse.

Best to keep the peace .

Hmm let me guess, something along the lines of
"was told piss off, your clubs fuckin wank"

(we have always been able to laugh at ourselves DSoB, its what makes us adorable)
;o)

Here's an old one I posted :o)

Crappy talk, keep talkin' Crappy talk
Talk about things you'd like to do
You got to have a team
If you don't have a team
How you gonna have your dream come true

Talk about Ka-kaaa , coming to the prem
Lookin' like the icing on the cake
He said to Madrid , rather you than them
I'm makin' all the wonga I can make

Crappy talk, keep talkin' Crappy talk
Talk about players you'd like to try
You got to have a team
If you don't have a team
You can kiss the big top 4 goodbye

Talk about Barry , lookin' like a girl
Pickin' through the brochures of Audi
Said to fat Harreeee , would you like to 'ave a whirl
While I'm countin' all the wads of my moneeeey

Crappy talk, keep talkin' Crappy talk
Talk about trophies you would like to win
You got to have a team
If you don't have a team
Your cabinet will soon look flippin thin

Talk about Mark hughes , the fish he wants to catch
Wants to finish higher than Everton
He's gonna blow a fuse , when your lads don't win a match
You'll be lookin up at them when the seasons done

Crappy talk, keep talkin' Crappy talk
Talk about pastures old and new
You got to have a team
If you don't have a team
You'll soon be propping up division 2

If you don't talk Crappy
And you never have a team
Then you'll never have a dream come true!

2008/09 - 5th 9 pts behind 4th place
2007/08 - 5th 11 pts behind 4th place
2006/07 - 6th 10 pts behind 4th place
2005/06 - 11th 17 pts behind 4th place
2004/05 - 4th place, knocked out of Champions League straight away
2003/04 - 17th 19 pts behind 4th place
2002/03 - 7th 8 pts behind 4th place
2001/02 - 15th 28 pts behind 4th place
2000/01 - 16th 26 pts behind 4th place

You have only been "knocking" in recent years, by saying this you are also showing that Everton may very well have reached as far as they can for the foreseeable future. Finishing behind 4th place team each year, but can't break. Without the financial muscle that the sky four, City or even Villa or Spurs, how are Everton going to maintain this position? I can see no other team breaking into the top four outside of City, and behind them, Villa and Spurs.

Unless Everton get some backing, the next few years, once current players move on, will be very telling.

I agree that investment is needed for them to break into the top 4, but the actual playing staff at present are not that far off now at full strength, so you can see why fans don't want to lose Lescott, but at the same time do not think he is irreplaceable.
When the alledged take over does happen (sometime soon according to ITK's) I expect the top 4 to seriously looking over their shoulders as Moyes has done a lot with a little cash, so given a wedge could be very dangerous.

We need a right back .
We need to review our right side mid .
We need another striker possibly
We need a defensive mid .

We also need to provide cover for a few areas , but we don't need miracles .

Time will tell , but we are under no pressure to sell at the moment .

If that's the Arab take-over rumour, it was all bollocks.
