All these Everton fans geting excited about the cash, im sure they'll end up with 16m after they pay Wolves off, dont they have to give them 20% of the 20m?. Who are they going to get with that? 2 half decent players...

15% of anything above the initial £5m everton paid, so depending on what figure we believe (lets use the £24m for arguments sake) then its £15.2m profit for the dippers.

Have we really paid 24M for Lescott?? or; is that SSN talking rubbish and Moyes and Kenwright trying to keep their fans sweet.

Surely if it was as much as this the deal would have been done a couple of weeks ago.

Pleased with Lescott, but the fact Sergio Ramos cost £21m and JL £24m is a bit beyond belief.

I see were your coming from on that one, but isnt it always the case that top English players changing prem clubs always costs more than they maybe should ..? either way im well pleased think he will be a top addition .. good work Blues

I wouldn't have thought it was £24m, The Guardian are reporting £22m. It'll no doubt be undisclosed.

18m raising to 22m I think it is. Everton fan's need to be cheering us on to win things to get the extra 4m haha.

Yeah thats the one. We said we wasn't going any higher than 18m which we vauled the player at, there's no way we agreed to pay an extra 6m or 9m on the first bid of 15m. It's like you say bit of a blag to keep the Everton fans sweet, they hate Kenwright enough as it is, and he want's to look a bit of a hero.

As our Chairman says in his interview on mcfc.co.uk 'a player is only worth as much as a club is prepared to pay for him'

We need Lescott to help our march towards winning some silverware. MH and his team think that JL is worth paying however much it is and once again the Owner and Chairman have backed him.

What does it matter how much we have paid, as long as once he pulls on the light blue shirt he gives 110% for the cause and we go on to win a (or many) trophies?

Which is what a few of us on here have been saying from day one. Clearly he hasn't got a clue.

I've heard we've got him for buck shee after Cook worked out Moyes's weakness....

Looks like we paid £22 million with a further £2 million after a certain number of games played (source BBC, presumably the add on in case his knee problem recurrs). Our market valuation of him was £15 million (which was the initial bid).

We have paid the extra £7 million because he was identified as the next link in the chain (after Terry bid failled) to partner Toure. We were prepared to pay that rather than try to buy the next player on the list, Upson for £12 million (or up to £15 million). Upson is 30, even riskier injury wise and less versatile.

Now having got the players we wanted I assume we will attempt to build up some long term partnerships and maintain compeitive pressure on each player (which is why Onouha was given extended contract and why I hope we keep Dunne - in other words if Toure or Lescott drop their standard of play both Onouha and Dunne, and Kompany will be breathing down their necks).

Next phase: are their potentially any better centre backs out there who are younger? (Liverpool found two gems in Agger and Skrtyl), are there any under 22's to develop for the future? (Jack Rodwell looks like a star in the making, Mancienne shone at under 21's), are their players in our extended ex-academy squad who can compete for first team squad / bench place? (Ben Mee, Dedryk Boyata).
