Lescott

Great performance from him yesterday, didnt put a foot wrong all night and some great defending. Also top draw the way he got back and just did enough to put vela (cheat!!!!) of his shot.

Also good to see him cutting out his long ball and playing the short ball more
I thought he had a great game too. I have not really been aware of him playing the long ball - although nothing wrong with a long ball if it's accurate.

Hes been doing it alot, instead of passing it short he's been hoofing it upfield. He's started playing the ball more though the last 2 games

Seems to be concentrating more on the basics of defending and looks all the better for it.

Although he's a decent ball player, I think he needs to accept that he has to take on the role of the stopper (a la Terry or Vidic) and let Toure do the fancy stuff.

Brilliant performance from Lescott he didnt put a foot wrong you could see the last few weeks he was getting better and better he was outstanding last night, well done Joleon.

I thought he had a belting game, but one concern for me - early on he dived into a challenge and won the ball, but was on his arse when the ball spilled out to an Arsenal player. It has happened before and we've conceeded, He needs to learn not to dive in on the edge of our area. Only a slight concern and not taking anything away from a brilliant performance last night.

I lost count of the number of times the ball spilled out to an Arse player. Might explain why they ended up with so much of the possession.

I think Joleoninho has begun to chip away at the £24 Million millstone round his neck. Not much sign of it last night.

Youve contradicted yourself there pal - make your mind up.
Lescott was excellent last night...........as he has been for the last 5 or 6 games.
Cant argue with SWP getting man of the match but lescott ran him very very close.

What the fuck?!?!?!?!?

He has been outstanding for the last 4-5 games, and for England.

Last night he was Man of the Match by a mile.

How could you not see that? Were you pissed or something?

He was excellent last night, as were all the team. Arsenal, even baby Arsenal, have enough about them to make chances. When we needed to stand up to that we did, time after time. Whether it was Given closing down the angle or Lescott putting pressure on the shooter when through on goal, we were great.

Even better for me - Lescott has been caustic out a few times this year by coming forward out of position to tackle the forward who drops off to get the ball, creating a huge space behind him. Last night he charged out to meet the threat, ensured the guy was not turning and didn't make a hasty tackle, but instead passed him off to Barry or Ireland and moved back into the back line - perfect play.

Thought Lescott controlled the back line last night, he seemed to take the mantle and show the other 3 what was needed.
The incident when he dived in when it spilt to an arsenal player (eboue)? He could've stayed on his feet although once comitted they don't pull out. The other question with that was where was Bridge? A copule of times he looked out of position and this was one, not knocking him but it left us wide open.
One thing that did impress me with Joleon was in the first half he claered on with his head high to the edge of the box and was firdt to react, lovely bit of control and cleared. sSeem to remember a super ball out to Wright-phillips too.

All in all a good, commanding performance from him.
