let me tell you a story...

this is it from my point of view.

Real Madrid had 2 way discussions with City in the summer. City talked about Higuain and a few others, Real talked about Tevez. Nothing was agreed on either side but Kia's eyes lit up and he sensed another payday. So he starts talking to Carlos about it on a regular basis. City try to pacify Carlos with the captaincy and some new signings, as Carlos is still unhappy about the Hughes sacking, no Champions League football and he isn't convinced about Mancini.

City do well, but Kia is getting frustrated by the boardroom's cracking down on him, so starts trying to convince Carlos that he should force a move through to Madrid. Kia plays on Carlos's homesickness, by telling him that he's far more likely to get his family to come back over if he's in a warmer, more familiar spanish speaking country, though really Kia is only interested in his big final payday from his main asset through a big money deal to Real. Carlos agrees and signs off and hands in his transfer request, vetted and prepped by Kia, and City rebuke it. Kia angry, puts out a statement with Carlos's name on, but unfortunately this only shows himself up as the one who has the issues with the board, not Carlos. Carlos and Kia leg it to Tenerife to escape press attention, City laugh off statement.

I think that's where we are at.

That's actually quite close to the truth from what I'm hearing.

Noone at City is laughing though.

I don't mean laughing at the situation I mean metaphorically "laughing off" that the boardroom has done anything bad to provoke Carlos to this extent.

Well, for once City are not getting caned by the press over a financial issue so in some ways Kia has played right into our hands.

Hypothetical question.

If we were to trade Tevez for Players from where ever with no transfer fee. other than wage negotiations with his new club, what money would Joorabchian get ?

a lucrative agent fee for negotiating the contract details with the purchasing club on Carlos's behalf is all he'd get anyway really, unless he's owed money from City for anything.

But certainly not the equivalant of a percentage cut of a transfer fee then ?

Kia isn't actually registered as an agent, he's an "Advisor".

Kia may well be on the receiving end of a claim for damages as well very soon.

it would be along the lines of a signing on fee for a player, so I would guess that could reach into the millions for a player of Tevez's calibre.

I'm not aware that agents can bargain for cuts of transfer fees, there's probably someone else on here who has more knowledge on that though.
