lets be honest

Very true and the fact that Pellegrini has played 6 previous games against Guardiola without winning might have taught him a lesson.
Also I thought Dortmund were better last season against us

They played like Barca at their peak under Pep. Best team to come to the Etihad (along with Dortmund).

Yeah Bayern kept the ball well, great even....but best 90 mins ? No. It was a complete bore-fest after they scored the first goal. Watching them pass sideways, back to the keeper, back to midfield, then back to the keeper again had me almost asleep. Plus we pretty much gifted them their 3 goals with either poor goalkeeping or defending.

Teams like Bayern and Real are a class apart from the usual 'top quality' on show in the PL. People go on about the PL being the best league in the world. They may be right about being 'the best league' but last night showed that we don't have the best teams.

I have said it before on here that you have to do the same as they do. Too many times last night we were content to let them keep passing the ball as long as they didn't make any headway, whereas they were at our throats in every square inch of the pitch - that is the difference in Europe!

yep. the pressure they put joe hart under as soon as he had the ball at his feet was unreal..bayern worked so hard as a team, a proper unit.awesome.

Yes they were quality but boy did we make it easy for them. The one thing any team can do is press and they did that all night and never allowed to settle. But you don't need to be Bayern to do that, there's any number of mid table premiership teams that can do that.

But why did we not do the same? Were we scared or something? Every time they had the ball, we stepped back and let them play. It was like the Derby only roles reversed. We didn't get in their faces at all.

So overall I was not that impressed with Bayern. They were just a top quality side as we all knew. We were utterly shocking which is why they looked so good.

I said in another thread, Bayern are class, but they are not that much a class above in which they should be making s look like a pub team.
No they shouldn't.

Our squad of players is not that far behind Bayern, and it shouldn't be made to look that way.

I'm also sick of hearing the excuse that its only our third season in the CL, and how we lack experience, that is a bollox argument because with the exception of Hart and Richards in tonights team, these players and the manager ALL have plenty of experience in the CL, they should be better than they were tonight.

Luckily for us, I think we'll get enough points from CSKA, and Plzen to get through this time round.

And then what? Get eliminated the minute we meet any half decent team? Meanwhile we have sacrificed the Premier League.

Pellegrini fucked up big time.

When I saw united formation I could see us dominating the derby, same as last night,I could not believe he went with 2in the middle,I didn't see the so called lack of motivation or effort,I saw a team who chased shadows for 75 minutes
At the start of the second half I thought who would replace dzeko,I couldn't believe he carried on with the same formation,we should of started with the team that finished that match except Sergio for negrado,it has nothing to do with hindsight but common fucking sense,

He needs to buck his ideas up because after last nights shocking display which I put down solely to him.

The way I saw it. Not good enough considering the talent we have in our squad. Bayern will have miles harder games this season against inferior players than we have.

i'm sick of the 'Manuel shoulda changed it brigade' for what?? we got outclassed by a team who are pure class,ie the best keeper to come along since Smichael,Lahm,Baoteng etc etc,i don't neeed to say again how good they are, lets take a lesson from it and improve, all you little precious souls who think coz some Muslims with loads of doe we are gonna win everything in sight, have a little wAKE UP CALL

He made the right changes, just way too late. You dont have to be precious, or expect to win every game too see Pelle had a very bad night at the office.

We chased them down for 70 minutes while they took the piss. The problem is if you carry on chasing too much after 60 minutes you are knackered and get 7 put past you

-- 03 Oct 2013, 10:15 --

He should of made the changes after 20 minutes although Silva probably only fit for 45 but the whole dynamic changed once he came on

thought we gifted them the game , every goal down to individual errors , hart for the 1st , clichy for the 2nd , and fernandinho/hart for the 3rd , they had 70% possession in the first half and created a couple of half chances . No doubt hollywood fc are a very good team and rummenigge will be on the phone to platini this morning congratulating themselves , but we have only been at the top table for 3 seasons ,and our inexperience in big european games is expected .But when we qualify for the later stages , we will gain more experience , it might take another couple of seasons to get to semi or champs final , but rummenigge / platini and their hangers-on know we arent going away.

as much as we played below par last night, Bayern were absolute quality, the best ive seen live for many years but they have been in 3 of the last 4 finals so they should be a differenr level, they were so good to watch and a great benchmark for us to get

I think we can get there but it will take time and patience, lets keep getting better but lets stick together

Bayern were incredible, we were outclassed from the off.

If we had of played a better formation it still would have been a task, but we made it easy for them.

No doubting how class they are, but we played a formation last night which played into their hands and they well and truly filled their boots.

I actually thought we did. Whenever one of their players took two touches to get the ball under control one of ours was upon him, the problem was, they rarely took two touches to control it, it was some of the slickest passing and movement I've ever witnessed, Muller never stopped moving all night.

It was the single best team performance I've ever seen, they're fantastic individual players, playing in a fantastic team.

i've been watching footy for more than 30 years, that has in my eyes got to be the best 90mins of football witnessed, sometimes in life take yer hat off and admire the champions ,i shook so many munich fans and said 'fair play mate' see you in munich

They were THE best side i've ever seen come to City ...... very good footballing team , that has the individual talent to make its mark .... their work rate is also phenominal.

They did a number on us, end of. What was most disappointing however was the stats at the end of the first half. They double he amount of possession but had run further than us!!! Our work rate was poor and shows that if you want to compete with the best not just in Europe but in the Premiership we have to increase our work rate. We need to be fitter, we need to hunt the ball down in packs and our movement need to be a lot better. We were too static all over the park. FFS even Ribery and Robben were grafting and we made Boateng look half decent.

That pretty well sums it up. They were right at the top of their game and we were nowhere near the top of ours.

Best I've seen since Liverpool regularly gave us a football lesson in the 1970's.

Well said, and well done to the city fans who clapped scweinsteiger and robben off the pitch. Yes we could have played better, but sometimes you have to say that you witnessed a top class side.

I thought bayern were world class last night. Not seen city get totally outplayed like that for a long time. The passing was crisp and they just don't lose the ball. Incredible team.
