The plaque idea sounds good and a huge card we all sign. with our address, phone number and bank details just in case he is really touched.

Hmm..Not a bad idea really, but I strongly advise everyone to think about making it a fitting gift. No hurry.
Life like statues and such are not that popular in the area and smacks of graveyard memorials to the locals so I would not choose something like that.

Sometimes simple gifts are the best, the banner yesterday was perfect.
At UAE National day Emiratis tend to decorate their cars in national colours and pics of their favourite Sheikhs just to give you an idea.

Are you suggesting that fellow citizens drive through the curry mile on Eid-Ul-Fitr [probably Thursday, 9th September, but often a day earlier in the Middle East] with photos of Sheikh Mansour stuck to their car, with multi-coloured stars on the bonnet?

Seriously, though, you are quite right to suggest that simple respect and appreciation is most honoured.

However, as you know, charity is a pillar of Islam and so that's the way I think we should go. The floods in the Indus valley, making millions of his brothers and sisters homeless, would probably be a good start. Not that he would object to local charities, such as for children [Francis House springs to mind].

The Sheikh Mansour Trust, for example?

whatever we do that clown alan green will say we didn't do it; he went on and on during 1 of his 606 phone ins last year denying that City fans had paid for the Thanks You Sheikh banner, despite hundreds of Blues phoning and texting the bitter fucking twot otherwise

The idea of a charitable trust is a good one.

When we win a trophy he should be awarded the Freedom of Manchester. Think you're allowed to drive sheep through the centre of town so it'd be useful when United are at home.
