Let's get behind Savic

Rather than slag the lad off, perhaps questions about Lescott`s complete lack of any support for him need addressing, he was up against Carrol who would be a handful for most players yet Lescott never once came out of the hole he was hiding in, either to help out or at least talk him through things and buck him up a bit.

None of the players covered themselves in glory last night, with the exception of Hart and maybe Richards an Kun the rest went missing agaist a very average puddle side, but the kid needs experiance AND help off senior players and last night he got none.

Bobby should get him to do zany things in his spare time. That way he'd become a cult hero and everyone would ignore his faults.

Love this ! Well said pal

I was with Savic even after the match when "fellow blues" wanted the lynch the kid. Savic will stay guaranteed and Mancini has faith in him for the rest of the time Vinny is out.

Savic will play great in the rest of the games and I will back him as I have always even with his mistakes yesterday no matter what.

IMHO Savic needs time to develop and by next year he will be f*cking ace.

lets get behind savic, lol you forgot the rest of your post pal,
because everyone else does lol...thats what it should say,
to be fair rocky balboa cant play football so lets, let him watch from the stands with us,

Savic is younger than practically all the starting defenders for most of the teams in the league.

What do you lot expect for a defender at 21?

He has all the attributes to be a good footballing CB in the future. He passes forward well, is tidy on the ball, etc.

He just needs experience. The premier league is not like playing in his Serbia. He needs to adjust. Defense is the hardest position to become acclimated to when joining the premier league and you expect a 21 year old who's only appeared a handful of times to be the finished product?

Unrealistic.

Loan him out to a prem team and he will get used to the pace, type of play, crosses etc. In his post-match interview, he said he needed the confidence. You're hearing it from the man himself. Now I know every club has made some bad buys, but you don't but a kid if you don't see something in him that you can mould. I'm sorry you don't see it, but I do.

looking at the thread title, do you mean let's literally get behind him, in order to cover the gaping holes he leaves in our defence??

I joke of course.

The 35m sub shrugged him off like he was a fly on his shoulder. Not our answer I am afraid. Not trying to sound like slagging him off, but I personally don't feel as if he will ever be up to the standards we now have, and that are now needed in the Premier League. Back up/sub/reserve player, and probably won't be with us for very long to be fair. Will NEVER be a first choice Cb for us, let's face that fact and see him for who he really is. I could be, and hope I am wrong, but don't see much changing.

I'll tell you ... you are wrong. You will be dry humping him this time next year for his defensive ability. Dare I say, I feel he will get better than Lescott by next season AND if Kolo decides to go we might see a fight on with Lescott for the other CB place. Things tend to bite people in the ass if the write them off so soon cos of impatience.

Id say his positioning, interception and touch on the ball are great. But his strength is lacking I feel and thats the biggest requirement in the EPL. He has to work on that and on getting used to physical environment of the EPL without causing a foul in the penalty. The time he let carroll through on goal was horrible defending. Up till then I think he would be better off playing in the CDM role no? What do you guys think?

If Vinny had been in the bad position that Savic was in, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that Carroll would've done the same.

It is things like this that experience irons out. Experience is what this kid needs.

Nicely put Jumanji and I totally agree with. People expect to buy a f*cking instant hit. He's here for the long run hopefully and is young, inexperienced and needs more playing time. I say it again, you will be loving the lad for his defensive abilities by next season.
