Leyton Orient (A) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Well, great no VAR old school David v Goliath FA cup game, loved it, no pussy football.
My sentiments exactly. I loved it. Twas a great game to watch,
I've never been on Orients ground, tho I have walked past it a few years ago,got a long standing Blue mate who lives round the corner from the ground.
This match, for a neutral I suppose ,had everything.
David v goliath,a poor surface,a hint of a giant killing, new players making their debuts / 2nd appearance for us, youth team players thrown in,great opening goal from the home side, bent ref ,shuddering challenges, a feisty home team, their keeper was brilliant,....and despite what many posters saw as a shambles of a performance, from the tv screen ,in a busy pub, I could see real determination and resolve from many of our players, real grit,...I liked that.i really do.
For Jack and KDB to combine ,with such brilliance,to score the winner
Shows to me ,there is true resolution left in the squad.
Let's be honest. We 've all seen City falter at places like Shrewsbury and Halifax, countless others away from home in the cup,but I thought
true grit, and a dash of sublime magical skill to win the game....made it a Belting good cup tie.
I'm actually proud of City today ,mad as that sounds .....but the utter professionalism of the players ,not losing their head at the atrocious refereeing decisions..should not be discounted.
Kdb s burst of energy showed,he really wanted to win today, and that means a lot to me.

I appreciate those actually at the ground may see things differently....
Just an arm chair blues perspective...

And I watched with no sound, so didn't get the awful commentary others did. Phew !

If you oisten to the fans on Cheesys vlog who were at the game they are of the same mindset. We are papering over the cracks.

It was absolutely pissing down on a shit pitch while we had a mish mash team out of youth players and new signings inc debuts. We were also only behind due to a freak goal which goes in 1/100.

Cup runs are full of such results and performances. In 2011 we almost went out to Notts County and barely had a shot on goal until Dzeko equalised late on.

We won. No one will remember this game.

All that matters is that we’re in the next round.
I'll remember the game.
Any true football fan would not forget their outrageous opening goal, nor our Sublime winner, absolutely Brilliant.

The mitigating circumstances are becoming a broken record. There was enough quality out there to get the job done. Fed up of all the usual excuses. Some of the stuff was elementary mistakes which continue to haunt us. This is a L1 side whatever the circumstances.
So you don't think injuries are mitigating circumstances.. seriously
We haven't had a settled defence for most of the season...losing Rod was a huge loss too.
Yeah we haven't played to our normal high level but injuries have played a huge part in it..
Newcastle played a L1 team earlier and won by one goal..better game to watch by the way but still they won a close game and I doubt their fans are complaining about getting through to the next round.

I’ve seen some shite written about us but this poison possibly tops the lot

Absolutely. Some drivel written by some wannabe hipster who knows fuck all about football and will probably be writing about kitchens or interior design in the next 5 years before gaining a senior position somewhere and claiming they have ‘experience’.

We did get the job done.

I agree, but it did occur to me that if Kev plays the full ninety minutes, he's not making that run with that vigour at that point.
Using KDB off the bench in such games is exactly how he should be used.

And what about Grealish? Kept the ball throughout and was at the heart of our attacks. 2 good assists if our 1st goal is given to Rico as it should be (Khusanov did not deliberately deflect it).

If we win the Cup, all City fans will remember how we got there. And we might well win the Cup. Some people weren't impressed. I was. Not our finest day, but plenty of skill and heart, and Khusanov showed me he's a player. Plenty of experienced senior pros have been sunk in FA Cup away days. He wasn't one of them.

Well Katherine, how bout you write this article about Leicester. They actually won a PL title and lost to United yesterday who still think they belong at the top because they were there for a little while over a decade ago.
Katherine is an " assistant sports editor "
WTF does that even mean ?
Jobs for the girls.
She probably makes the tea.

Keown: "He (Khusanov) didn't have the best debut against Chelsea, it shows how questionable their new signings have been" or words to that effect.

Wanker
I heard Keown say that and I thought that was out of order. Haven’t his beloved Arsenal had some questionable signings? Pepe, Mustafi to name two?

Through the entire game he came across as a deluded tarquin pretending to be neutral but failing miserably to hide his bitterness, jealousy and hatred towards the club that has damaged their mental health … oh hang on a minute that’s exactly what he is
