Liam Delap | £16m bid from Southampton rejected

Pleased the club turned down the deal. If we are going to play with an out and out striker it makes sense to have an additional back up as Alvarez is coming off a full season in Argentina, without any break, and Haaland we dont know how he will cope, injury wise, over a full season in the Premiership.

5 subs next season, absolutely no reason he should not get game time.
Guess it’s up to Delap to decide. He may feel as though there’s no chance of him breaking through here now that our two central forwards are 22.

All these questions about Haaland being able to adapt and his development being behind Delap is some areas I'm starting to regret the signing. We should have let one of the other top clubs (and everyone was after him) sign him instead.

Darwin Nunez was the obvious target we should have been after.

Things change very quickly in football. People made the same argument about Sancho leaving based on Sane and Sterlings age, yet neither are here now.

Jesus had a great career here as understudy to Aguero and who would have thought Zinchenko/Delap would have been successful.

An injury to Haaland, Alvarez struggling to adapt and Delap could get a lot more opportunities to stake his claim.
