I used to really like the Stone Roses. That first album is great and the second one is very under rated. I think Oasis stole their thunder and if the Roses had managed to get Second Coming out before Definitely Maybe emerged, I think it would have got a far better reception. No issues with the first bit but the bit in bold come on man?
Go see some of the clips in the Ian Brown thread on his latest tour.......... ;-)
Which bit are you disagreeing with ? :)
He can't sing mate.Which bit are you disagreeing with ? :)
To be fair Marcel Marceau would "piss all over" Brown in terms of singing!Tis just a joke I've learnt you can't really argue against personal taste. I like both oasis and the stone roses a lot. As front men Liam pisses all over Brown in terms of showmanship and singing.

He's so out of tune live it's fucking amazing he doesn't sing in tune by accident. To be fair Marcel Marceau would "piss all over" Brown in terms of singing!
I can’t get my head around how popular Brown, and a couple of "A.N.Others", who couldn't carry a note in a bucket, are on here. I have this radical belief that singers should be able to actually sing in something approaching tune. Crazy, innit? He's so out of tune live it's fucking amazing he doesn't sing in tune by accident.
Still, if Whitney Houston was the front man of the Stone roses...exactly the same amount of drugs would have been taken .I can’t get my head around how popular Brown, and a couple of "A.N.Others", who couldn't carry a note in a bucket, are on here. Not sure what relevance that has to what I said, but okay.Still, if Whitney Houston was the front man of the Stone roses...exactly the same amount of drugs would have been taken .
Oh jim. I don't know you, but sometimes you're so serious. I want to send you on a whimsy course where the study silliness and the like. Not sure what relevance that has to what I said, but okay.
And if Whitney Houston was the frontman of any band, that would be a hell of a lot of hallucinogenic substances!
No point. I'm a miserable, humourless ***t. The person running the course would end up needing counselling!Oh jim. I don't know you, but sometimes you're so serious. I want to send you on a whimsy course where the study silliness and the like.
See, I knew you had it in you. It just needs coaxing out!No point. I'm a miserable, humourless ***t. The person running the course would end up needing counselling!
As the actress said to, oh, forget it!See, I knew you had it in you. It just needs coaxing out!
Pretty good that @jimharri .......... :-)To be fair Marcel Marceau would "piss all over" Brown in terms of singing!
Bob Dylan couldn’t typically sing. It doesn’t matter so much when you can be a showman.I can’t get my head around how popular Brown, and a couple of "A.N.Others", who couldn't carry a note in a bucket, are on here. I have this radical belief that singers should be able to actually sing in something approaching tune. Crazy, innit?
Agree with you about Dylan. Hopeless singer. Van Morrison is another. But you're not seriously suggesting that not being able to sing "doesn't matter so much" when you're a singer as long as you are a "showman" (not that Brown can be seriously put forward as a showman), are you?Bob Dylan couldn’t typically sing. It doesn’t matter so much when you can be a showman.
Actually I am. I saw Ian Brown a few times solo (before he went weird) and he had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. Big venues like Brixton Academy.Agree with you about Dylan. There’d be no Liam Gallagher without Ian Brown.
