Libya (Merged)

If you read most reports the civilians are not that concerned about the bombing, apparently there is a thing in Tripoli were they sit on the roof at night watch the incomings, when they see one they all start whistling.

I see the naysayers have still not mentioned the poor woman who had been gang raped!

I sense sarcasm, and yet it is entirely possible to fight Al Qaeda in one theatre and help them in an other. It doesn't have to be intentional or as part of some kind of conspiracy.

The middle east is one theatre. And no it's not possible, we are in the midst of a "Global War on Terrorism" with the Taliban and Al Qaeda being the main belligerents. Why on earth would we then help them regain power in another country.

We're not at war across the entire Middle East so, no, it's not one theatre.
You're saying that actions cannot have unintended consequences which is frankly absurd.

So are you saying you have evidence for this accusation? If you have we await it with baited breath, as soon as you post it we will forward it to the UN, for their immediate attention!

And what accusation do you think I am making?

PS. Oh yea, I nearly forgot, since I currently have your attention, perhaps you can explain the mad rant you went on earlier after I had mentioned Iran?

I hope whoever did rape the poor woman & anyone who helped & tried to covered it up is serverley punished .I hope she is now safe & receiving proper treatment it would be a good gesture if one of the nato countries offered her sanctury .There is a demonstration in Manchester tonight in support of her

These Libyan rebels... they're in the middle of a civil war and Gadaffi is still in power...yet somehow they've established a new Central Bank of Libya and formed a new national oil company, without any outside help whatsoever.. talented bunch aren't they..?

Do you think they're just a rag tag bunch of disgruntled civilians with sticks and stones? They are being led by defected generals and pretty much control half of the country. They have tanks, helicopters and fighter jets of their own, military bases and all the rest. The bulk of the rebel force are trained soldiers, the rest just take up arms when need be.

Then why the fuck do they need the UN and NATO to back them up?

Why all the shit about "protecting civilians" when, by your own admission they have their own army?

There's reports today that a village in the Ivory Coast has been found with 80 dead... will the UN be rushing to their aid... or haven't they got enough oil to make it worthwhile?

Tough choice.

They need arms if they are to do anything. Every other day they seem to take towns and then retreat again and lose them, then take them and lose them again. I have rarely known a pendulum swing back and forth so much.

Of course we have Nato involved now, but there are some major players involved already and when they are then Nato and other organisations like the UN can quickly be rendered pretty much irrelevant (see Iraq war).

We'll see what happens but surely it's only a matter of time before the rebels are covertly armed.
