Lidl/Aldi - When life didn't turn out as you planned
You know that a chilli, garlic or apple has exactly the same genetic makeup no matter where it’s sold don’t you? So why spend more on them when you have the option to get them cheaper?

It’s the quality of the cook, not the price of the ingredients, that makes a difference in the quality of a dish. Once I’ve cooked my dishes, nobody would ever know where I got the ingredients from.

You’ll never see a chef from a decent restaurant shopping in Waitrose for his ingredients.

To be fair I would like 100% as the packet infers. I understand the conveniance aspect but many branded lables such as Findus and Birds Eye are made with 100% frozen Cod Fillet with no nasty suprises to the end user.

If products wish to compete on a like for like basis then please put the 48% Cod you just pinched from our homecoming supper back into the packet eh.

Designed to deceive the end users and no need for smoke and mirrors if you want to retain market share. I maintain that a lot of Aldi Lidl products are inferior to their branded couterparts and it didnt use to be this way. The suppliers must be under immense pressure as the discount retailers demand lower and lower prices.

Here is the packet I have just dug out of the bin. Four breaded Cod Fillets. 100% Fillet.

Contains 52% Cod
But the breadcrumb coating is part of the product so it can never be 100%.

Buy yourself a raw cod fillet if you want something closer to 100%.

I’d go back to 2020 with the “recipe” for the Covid vaccines.

I’d be a world hero….

Okay, have you ever enjoyed black garlic? chilli I grow my own as I do with apple (6 acres allow that) I work at Waitrose. I enjoy quality, if you believe that L & A deliver that and that Waitrose are too expensive so be it. I on the other hand don't, do you enjoy organic vegetables or fruit compared with those that aren't and no doubt are probably sprayed with god nows what. I wouldn't feed my dogs with crap like that but that's your choice. The King of England decrees it. Duchy of Cornwall after all

Fish fingers are 100% cod, I watched a programme the other week with Greg Wallace following the cycle of fish fingers and I was surprised cos I always thought it was all the bits left over were made into fish fingers but that is not the case.

Aldi sell organic meats, fruit and veg
Makes we wonder if you’ve ever been in one…

I have on a infrequent basis but none the less I prefer to eat quality rather than presumed quality at a a lesser price. If you doubt me I suggest you check the line of were the meats come from as your first port of call. If they can refer back to the farm the heritage and the where the animal was slaughtered I would be amazed. The reference to EVERY single piece of beef is registered in Waitrose for a reason. Again as stated if you wish to eat from where you have no idea where it comes from, your choice

Bought some Schnitzels from Lidl on Saturday really nice the ham pork and cheese one's, also a couple of packets of Bratwurst and Pork Knuckles in fact spent a fortune
