Lidl / Aldi

It's impressive how Lidl and Aldi seem to have weathered the storm of brexit and avoided the associated horrors. I was expecting them to have upped and done one by now.

There is profit and then there is profit 2Bn pre tax profit for Tesco last April great for shareholders and pension schemes but no good at all to suppliers and shoppers. By the way I love Aldi and have no doubt they are upto the same tricks but they don’t insist on you having a club card to garner discounts on food items.
Which was a 2% margin with all costs accounted for for the 6 month up to then according to their accounts. There isn't much wiggle room or scope to cut costs without losing money.

Aldi wasn't cheap last time I went in when selling exact matches. Bring back Kwik Save and Victor Value.

Victor Value were owned by Tesco back in the day, Bookers and Premier shop's are also part of the Tesco group today.

Lidl stores tend to be larger in size, especially the newer outlets. So more choice.
Lidl also have more branded products, if you are into them.
The bakery is another plus for Lidl.

Final score :-

Lidl 3 - 0 Aldi...
