Lidl / Aldi

I always thought you were an M and S shopper Bob. We still do a bit of food shopping there and the prices don’t seem to have rocketed as much as others
Your correct and am unsure why this is?

Our M and S moved to new premises and a lot more of a pleasant envirenment to shop in. Yellow whoopsies are a god send but you have to strike fast. I also use them as they do a 29 inch leg, which is a godsend if your sick of tripping up.

Absolutely gutted when Debenhams went under as they were high quality, but with a continualy running Blue Cross sale. Management sold the buildings took the dividends and ran it into the wall. There will never be another Debs and the high street just isnt the same any more. Sniff ..

Didn’t realise they did 29” shorts :-)

Had an Aldi chicken for Sunday roast today as a trial, normally don't do Asda/Tesco/ Morrissons as they are tasteless (well- it would be, it's chicken). Usually go for Marks & Spencer's and this one was pretty good.

Those digestives, try the chocolate ones- even better and don't fall apart as easy when you dunk them in your brew.

Lidl black pudding, not bad- Irish style with oats in but can't get Clonakilty or Shaws over here. Lidl thick cut bacon, not bad (usually get meat from proper butcher tbh) don't get white shite coming out of it when you grill it (salt/ preservative/ bulking up agent?). Cheapo 47p granary bread, does for me butties.

You pay for what you get meat wise though, lamb and beef are tough.

What is nice is Lidl Ciabatta bread mix, half a packet makes six rolls or 1 loaf- a dozen rolls for under a quid!

Aldi? creamy yoghurts, nice. Both of them do nice raspberry jam.

Avoid Lidl''s best instant coffee- tastes burnt.

Kinnel- you'll be wanting ironing tips next.
The white gunk is brine. The bacon is wet cured. Get dry cured if you can. More expensive but much tastier.

There is no snobbery involved, you may have returned food stuffs to Waitrose but I bet you were given a full refund? As for being infantile I would guess I have gotten under your skin for being right. By the way please learn how to spell "your" before suggesting childish behaviour. Just for the added point I was merely quoting a joke by Tony Robbins so climb down off "your" high horse and accept the the King of England does not honour A or L
Not noticed you before, what a ****!

Aldi is brilliant for wine, nice European hams and cheese.

Must say I find their fresh produce a bit rubbish and their knock off brands nowhere near as good as the proper stuff though.

‘Danepak’ butter is shit. ‘Snackrite’ crisps are shit.

And their tills stress me out.

We do most of our shopping in Morrisons, Sainsbury’s or Waitrose.

Okay, have you ever enjoyed black garlic? chilli I grow my own as I do with apple (6 acres allow that) I work at Waitrose. I enjoy quality, if you believe that L & A deliver that and that Waitrose are too expensive so be it. I on the other hand don't, do you enjoy organic vegetables or fruit compared with those that aren't and no doubt are probably sprayed with god nows what. I wouldn't feed my dogs with crap like that but that's your choice. The King of England decrees it. Duchy of Cornwall after all

To be fair I would like 100% as the packet infers. I understand the conveniance aspect but many branded lables such as Findus and Birds Eye are made with 100% frozen Cod Fillet with no nasty suprises to the end user.

If products wish to compete on a like for like basis then please put the 48% Cod you just pinched from our homecoming supper back into the packet eh.

Designed to deceive the end users and no need for smoke and mirrors if you want to retain market share. I maintain that a lot of Aldi Lidl products are inferior to their branded couterparts and it didnt use to be this way. The suppliers must be under immense pressure as the discount retailers demand lower and lower prices.

Here is the packet I have just dug out of the bin. Four breaded Cod Fillets. 100% Fillet.

Contains 52% Cod
I bought some cod in batter from Netto years ago...Goes to take a gob full, sharp pain in my mouth...Turned out to be a recognisable two inch chunk of plastic from a fish crate, the corner bit to be precise...On another occasion I bought a tin of custard, had a mouthful and ended up blowing chunks for hours afterward..It had a sort of weird alien sour taste to it. I also puked my ring up after eating some potato waffles from there too.
Opened a bottle of German beer from there and ended up nearly choking on a giant dead wasp.
