As PB has said, we have been in discussions for a few years. It is still 70/30 whether he leaves Barca or not. At least the odds are more in our favour now.

Just been watching SS1 and they were asking the Football Financial guy who`s regularly on the programme and always gives City some good support, when discussing FFP,with some of the fucking muppet questions asked by the presenter.
He says that it would work out at any club having to spend nearly half a billion pounds (£100M pa x 5 Years) for the full services of Messi, which could hamper that Clubs FFP committments.
He didn`t go as far as saying it would/could not ever happen but its more of a political stance between him and the hierarchy at Barca.

In my book, and I quote, 'on the precipice' is more than 70/30!!!

Yes i saw that. At those figures it seems impossible that anyone could afford him. He also said that any team who got him could not recoup anything like that kind of money from increased shirt sales and sponsorship. I just don't see how that kind of money would be affordable for any club.

I disagree, Messi is the closest thing to a Golden Goose that you will ever see in football, the money would pour in, as would the CVs of players and managers wanting to get in on the action

People need to not obsess about the finances involved. Messi will be an expensive transfer but if he's moving, we'll find a way to make it fit with FFP.

Everything has played out exactly as I was told to expect.

Because of that, I can't doubt what might be about to happen.

I'll go as far as to say this, I will put money behind the bar at the next Blue Moon gathering should he leave Barcelona and NOT come to City.

Well the guy who was praising City's finances differed in opinion and he is a so called expert. Im not saying money wouldn't come in, but they sums they are talking are just ludicrous. I genuinely dont think he will leave Barca, but my main worry is that sort of commitment seriously restricts what we can do with the rest of our team.

Going nowhere IMO
People would run the President and board out of town before they'd allow them to sell Messi.

Barca arent paying a 250 million transfer fee though. If he was out of contract then absolutely, but the transfer fee is just crazy.
