Tolmie will know at the exact moment we know. When Tolmie knows, Tolmie knows. When Tolmie knows, we might know. When we might know, we don't know. What we do know, we know. And what we don't know, we don't.

Thats like a good fast bowler sending down a couple of quick bouncer's, just before the inswinging yorker. At least you've worked that one out, where in Spain are you again ?
Could be even better than that as they'll agree a cash fee, say £70m tops. So we put that through the books at £14m per annum. Then we sell Garcia to them for £25m. So effectively we get Messi for £45m and show a profit of £25m on the sale of Garcia, which covers nearly two years of his fee.It really all boils down to that release clause amount.
If they can get FIFA to sign off on it not existing then they will be OK.
That's what happened with our underage signings CAS arbitration - we asked the FA and FIFA to agree with our opinion on the laws. They agreed and then couldn't touch us when it later went to CAS.
@tolmie's hairdoo said Messi's people had opened legal proceedings with FIFA. If what they are trying is to get a legal opinion from FIFA agreeing with their interpretation of the release clause then its a no brained, we sign him and settle for <75m later.
Well you maybe right but this states otherwise: Sport.esIt would go to the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber because it involves an international transfer
Just call the whole saga off and get some other players in who we need.
You live in spain ?Sure La Liga certainly on the side of Barcelona because they realize how terrible it would be for Messi to leave.
As a Barcelona fan, I don’t think he will ever play for Barcelona again. But all of the news we follow in Spain that includes members of press who have direct line with his camp, is that Messi is very tense and very concerned because he assumed that he would have an overwhelming amount of support that would crush Bartomeu into a resignation and at that point he would have to negotiate with execs that would take over temporarily. Those folks would likely make a sensible business agreement and it would be very simple.
None of this has happened and now his camp have realized that they don’t have enough leverage with the clause in his contract and they are starting to get anxious. This his fathers overnight trip in private jet.
If indeed he was free or the felt they had a compelling case, they would not even have to sit down and attempt to negotiate.
Barcelona will not budge without a considerable amount of money and or players of significance. I’m not certain who’s it will end but it will not end in court because Man City have already made it clear that they can’t take the risk of signing him.
I see Barcelona taking a couple of good players and cash, or it doesn’t get done.
Barcelona already had a financial plannin place to make the numbers work prior to the Messi news. 100 million for Messi isn’t going to convince them because they will likely make that money with him in the stands on merchandising and sponsorships.
We shall see
Just give it a rest now.Just call the whole saga off and get some other players in who we need.
Playing the devils advocate here, if this was the case then Barto surely would have already come for a compromise today with his father and asked us about say 100m or something...so why is he still so adamant...Could be even better than that as they'll agree a cash fee, say £70m tops. So we put that through the books at £14m per annum. Then we sell Garcia to them for £25m. He's already said he doesn't.You live in spain ?
