I wouldn’t expect him to come in and be scoring 50 goals and 30 assists but without a doubt he would make us a better team.

Using this seasons current stats is a bit unfair, there’s so many things going on that it’s almost impossible for him to perform at his best.

If you saw the Barca vs Betis game though you’ll see how much he can change a game. He came on and ran the show and won Barca the game, his passing and vision was incredible.
I'm not saying he'd score 50, but he's definitely declining. £50mil + £500k+ a week in wages for someone who's very obviously getting worse. I still don't think he'd make us CL favourites, and after those 2 years are up, he's at NYCFC on a shedload. Just don't think it makes sense. Happy to be proven wrong, but it seems a very short-term roll of the dice.

I thought we established that he payed for himself? The money he brings in for us would be a lot more than he’d cost. Also I’d assume that if we buy him our higher ups will have seen that we can afford it

Last time I checked,I think we had 43 partnerships, that's just Manchester City, not CFG,fuck knows how many there is across the group.
I would think they would all like a slice of Messi, obviously at a cost.
I'm no finance or marketing expert, but I would guess the money he could bring in would be astronomical.

I think when city look at this deal they don’t see it as a City signing it’s a CFG signing.
They are playing 50 mill for a player that will be in the group for 5 years.

It’s impossible to say the impact be will have on the team, you Personally don’t think he will make us champions league favourites (Infact we have been favourites for the last 3 years) but pep might see a way of playing that will take us to another level with Messi in the side. Maybe he will just give the lads a boost and give us a feel good factor that means we put a run together. It’s easy to say he’s not the Messi of 5 years ago but He’s still Messi and he still can win you a game in a second.

We saw the coverage and media influence he would bring in The summer when every tweet about him leaving Barca was breaking records for most retweeted. He’s huge and would take us to another level, you’d see City/Messi merchandise in every shop you went in no matter where in the world you was.

He will improve the city team for two years then make New York the biggest club in America. A market that is still expanding.

The owners see value in the deal, they want it to happen and judging on how they have done so far in moving us forward over the past decade I’d trust them to be right.

If the financial benefits are so clear and obvious to us then it's also clear Barca will be counter offering Leo and some.

Yes but firstly they seem to be struggling financially at the minute and the whole Spanish League has taken a hit and they need to lower their wage bill. Also they need to rebuild their side to fit around him with limited finances whereas for us he’s the jewel in the crown that is like the final piece of the puzzle

They have offloaded quite a few players recently. Is their wage bill still such an issue?

It’s not just that, it’s the fact he wants to leave and play in a team that’s capable of challenging. They don’t have the money to do that big of a rebuild
