Messi coming to England will be a gold mine for MCFC, and him then going to NYCFC will be a goldmine for CFG.
Providing fans are allowed back into stadiums and he did come to City,Messi will be a gold mine for every premier league club, and those we play in the cups,IMO.

Im pretty sur that some of these footballers have multiple properties in exclusive locations around the world. He also said he hadnt decided anything yet for what happens in June...he could buy a house in Miami and
just keep it in preparation for if/when he does go there. ...probably means very little even if true...Im sure if he leaves Barca he will keep a property there as well and Im guessing he has at least one somewhere in Argentina as well

And thats if its even true in the first place

Of course, the property buying wasn't the only detail of what was reported. They also mentioned he was establishing a tax beneficial trust in the US which suggests living & drawing income there

Just noting that Miami makes much more sense than say NY

Don't you think America has been already been discussed between Khaldoon, Soriano, Txiki, Messi's father, and Messi?

City will have already put forward a long-term financial proposal and package to Messi and his father, which includes playing for City, and then New York City.

Messi would be the figure head of the City Football Group, Manchester City, and New York City.

Obviously I have no idea, but I would assume Sheikh Mansour is also very much involved in City and the City Football Group signing Messi. After all, he is the majority share holder, and has a personal wealth of £20bill.

The only thing stopping City signing Messi is either Messi himself or his Wife, who may not want to move to Manchester, due to the cliamte and lifestyle.

Time will tell , it will make Messi FC a pile of money for sure, MCFC I very much doubt it.
According to Forbes,Messi alone makes Nike £82m per year.
He also generates over £50m per year from sponsored social media posts.
He's also not long signed a lifetime sponsorship with adidas paying him £9m per year,so fuck knows what he makes them.
There is money to be made from him.

@jrb I can very well imagine it has been discussed but I don't think City, Khaldoon et al have some unique hold on the US/MLS. Moreover, playing for City does not need to be tied to playing for the NY team when you consider Miami >> NYC for latins for many reasons. I am talking hypothetically of course but on balance, the only factor I can see that makes City a compelling option for Messi is Pep. Otherwise, in terms of squad etc I do not see a big advantage with City atm apart from Guardiola

He wants CL, where can he go to best improve his chances considering all the variables involved? I think it is unclear atm, esp. when you factor in PSG too - but even there, there is uncertainty with a new coach and how club is run. Makes sense that he has not yet decided 100% on next step

As for MLS, it's a natural end to his career before returning to Barcelona - as he has said, this is his home. I also do not believe his family would move to Manchester or Paris should he make a move away from Barcelona for 2-3 seasons so it would really only be about sporting reasons. Miami however? I could definitely see them living there for a period of time

I wonder if city if need be would take Suarez and Messi to NYCFC? If that’s what Messi wanted? Would hate that twat Beckham to get him!

Bar Pep, there are also the other Barca Boys and connections at City, and 1 very important and influential friend.

I know it doesn't always work out like this, but most of the variables when added up point to City.

What Messi wants is a club that is well run. A club that looks after it's players. A club where there are no internal politics, or external distractions. Messi just wants to enjoy football and his life again. He will get that at City.

Of course, Kun is a big draw but even with Argentina that partnership has not flourished like you'd expect over the years. As great as Aguero is and as close as he is with Leo, he has had better striker partnerships over the same period of time. Plus, he'll be 33 himself and more often injured these days

I think if City will be his destination, it'll be because of Pep and what City will do to bolster the squad from even what it is now to accommodate him - meaning a world class forward, i.e. Neymar, Haaland or similar. Txiki & Soriano will have little to do with attracting him to the club

The entorno at Barca (Politics, media etc) has always been there but were least bothersome during the era of Laporta. It'll be sporting reasons to leave, not this - his life in Barcelona is otherwise ideal
