I disagree, I think this summer is the time. This team will have proven they can succeed without him by then. There'll be no lingering doubts or insecurities, only the knowledge that a brilliant team has just acquired the GOAT.

Messi ain’t close to retiring man. Only some disaster would cause the earlier retirement... I hope he will play until he is 40 or more :) Ibra is 40 this year and still going strong.

Yes. He may lose pace, but he won’t lose that killa instinct when it comes to scoring, assisting, dribbling etc. If you have such mind-blowing abilities like him, they won’t disappear.
just surround him with great players (those at Man City are quite good ;P ) and he will be playing the same outstanding way as he is playing now. Either as a RW or ST. Don’t waste his goalscoring abilities by putting him into the midfield area (just like he is playing in Barca since 2016, I am fuming every time when I think how many more goals he’d have scored playing in the box...)
