I find this totally hilarious. Barcelona were one of those clubs banging at the door demanding FFP to keep out the likes of City & PSG from the top table. They are now financially screwed & this will take them years to recover.

I can see 4 possible scenarios.

1. He signs an extension today, both release statements saying it was never in doubt, there was only ever one outcome, they are meant for each other.

2. Barcelona issue a holding explanation saying they know Messi wants to extend, they need more time to work out the last details and let him focus on the copa america, and will resolve after that.

3. Barcelona issue a statement thanking him for his service and loyalty, but the club needs to come.out of a difficult position, partly blame the last president, wish him all the best, followed by a similar statement from him saying he loved it till his last day but wants a new challenge, and will reassess after the copa.

4. Naebody says fuck awl and we are all left scratching oor heids.
