So they’ve agreed everything but it can’t be signed because of FFP? Those issues won’t just go away overnight - plus the fact Tebas warned them recently about it all if they did re-sign Messi.

I’ve just got some renewed optimism about this.

I can see 4 possible scenarios.

1. He signs an extension today, both release statements saying it was never in doubt, there was only ever one outcome, they are meant for each other.

2. Barcelona issue a holding explanation saying they know Messi wants to extend, they need more time to work out the last details and let him focus on the copa america, and will resolve after that.

3. Barcelona issue a statement thanking him for his service and loyalty, but the club needs to come.out of a difficult position, partly blame the last president, wish him all the best, followed by a similar statement from him saying he loved it till his last day but wants a new challenge, and will reassess after the copa.

4. Naebody says fuck awl and we are all left scratching oor heids.

So mostly 4 with a bit of 2 thrown in for good measure.

When is this quote (note not the tweet) from? sounds like the one from a couple days ago.

Nothing official from Barcelona.

Even if that quotes was just hours before midnight, it was 7pm in Argentina when his contract ran out. Messi had all evening to echo that, leak similar to his sources in Argentina, to calm the cules and send barca fans the same message. As someone looking to stay at a club he had been ar 20 years, has given 2 emotional interviews to on how how he loves them so in a year, you would think he would have coordinated reaffirming Laporta's claim on such a big night for his club.
