We are his best chance to win another Champions League in his career (he has 4, can match Ronaldo with 5), maybe also come close to breaking the goal record of the tournament (11 away from Ronaldo, it will take him more than one season to do that) An exciting union with Pep, for one season, I'm in.
I'm not and doubt the club are.

When/if Barca sign Messi, they wont be able to afford much more than that if they dont sell. Xavi was clear that they needed a rb and a dm... No way i can see that project attracting Gundo (hence signing a deal). They've got Gavi, Pedri, FDJ and so on... They can grab Cancelo though if they want

Didn't answer my question though.

Yeah the playing for free arguement is daft, I agree with you there. But you are also falling for some good hearsay propaganda. Besides, Messi hasn't had a contract with Barcelona in over 2 years now, so he could sign for whatever amount (not free), they agree on. As with any club in Europe.

You seem so sure he won't go for the money, where do you expect him to go? I'd love it if you were right, and he chose football. Don't think it will happen.

Apparently that isn't the case at all. I can't tell you for sure because I really don't know, but the reports coming from Spain say that Messi can't sign for less than an "X" amount of money established by La Liga, no matter if Messi and Barca come to terms on a lesser fee.

How does that work? I don't know, but apparently that's how the thing works over there.

And about Messi not following the money, it is simple: he would have already agreed to that 1 billion contract if that were the case. If not, why would Messi's father be in Barcelona today, trying to solve the situation and sign with Barca? A Barca team that, we all know, won't be able to even come close to pay Messi that kind of money.

Well then I dare comfortably guess the reports coming from Spain are horseshit. As they usually tend to be.

I can see there being a limit to how much of a pay cut an employee can take, in general, to protect people from being exploited. But Messi's contract with Barcelona finished over 2 years ago, I find it completely illogical that it has any relevance to the wage he could agree now.

You seem confident and fair play to you. As I keep saying, rather you were right. I expect him to go for the money. I'd love to be wrong. Time wil tell.

That's how it worked when he was still at Barca and negotiating a new contract.
Not sure if applies now.
