Got to hand it to the Barca fans - they must absolutely love Messi and to support his departure must be tough. Now that is worthy of respect!
Absolutely, they seem like a decent set of fans.

If David Silva or Aguero wanted to leave a year early, I’m sure they’d have gone with the blessing of the vast majority of City fans.

It seems pretty clear that Messi is at war with the board, not the club. And the fans are at war with the board, too. It’s a bit of a mess.

There’s a poll on the barcacentre twitter.

24,000 votes

88% say Barca should help to facilitate his exit
That’s really interesting, assuming the numbers are representative and considering Barca is effectively ran by the fans this should result in a positive outcome.

We respected his decision because the club knew in their hearts he was done.

The point is Barca would never have dreamed Messi would go to a serious rival at the end of his career, IF he was off to the MLS or China, I am sure there would be little fuss.

Barca and the board see an opportunity to make some money out of him in terms of a fee, but the president has already publicly stated he could leave for free this summer, so what were seeing is all political to save face.
Messi told them he wants to leave and his reasons for wanting to are justified. The simple point i'm making is that they've reacted to his request without any class.

La Liga are a Lionel Messi away from being bracketed by people in the 'farmers league' category, that's how important he is to that league.

The league has already been on a commerical decline, plus a lot of Europe's top talent has not gone to Spain like they did before, they are now looking towards other leagues, what is La Liga's attraction post Messi? Aside history of Barça or Real, Vinicius Jr? Lol

Surely Messi could have invoked the Webster ruling last year being over 28 when he signed his new contract? Can’t players 28 and older invoke it after 2 years?
My understanding is as long as he declares he wants to leave 2 weeks after the season has ended and he has served 2 years of the current contract as he is over 28 then he can chose which season will be his last

They have watched him for 20 years, he's given them everything and they have seen him at his best.

Just like us with David Silva, Real Sociedad are getting a wonderful player but we had the pleasure to watch him at his peak for 10 years.

And there 800m debt and there loan of 800m to cover there arses.
Are you suggesting they are going to go bankrupt? What has been created at the Nou Camp has been magnificent, a model of club we have partly copied with great success as well. OK the cyclic nature of football has come home to roost but they will be back.

On the back of Pep and Messi is why now they ain’t run very well or they wouldn’t be 800m in debt would they!?

Well they've spent 100s of millions on shite tbh haven't they ?

So it's not that great nowardays is it ?

La Liga statement changes nothing. Messi still wants to leave and Barca know it.

The bastard = TEBAS is a manipulator of the first degree, in this my country the correction is alarming, TEBAS is one of many, in England things are usually done by law with more justice and respect. I could see it over the years that I lived in whitefield near manchester, I hope everything is settled fairly and messi’s desire to play for city is resolved for the good of all

Do you wonder why players are giving La Liga a wide berth when the president is an obnoxious, fat unhealthy gobshite ?

WTF?

800m debt and it's a magnificent club?

Nonsense, they are a great, historical club, but the club has been run appalling in the last 6-8 years.

150m Coutinho, 120m Griezmann just 2 names, applying waste of money.

A tired, dilapidated stadium.
