Imagine is Ezzy turned out right. I'd be gutted but it would be quite funny to see the surprised reaction on here.

Problem is the Barcelona president does not want to negotiate at any price . He is obsessed with not being the guy who sold Messi.

this is why I reckon he’ll leave in 2021... Bart saves face ( Messi stays on his watch), new president arrives, and Messi gets his move with new presidents blessing... hope I’m unbelievably wrong though.

I think one thing is now clear... we can't secure him on a free transfer as we were hoping.

The question is, are we willing to pay a significant sum plus his wages to bring him here ?

Ball is in our court IMO.

I trust the club with it. If we walk away, it will be for the right reasons.

We aren't a club that will be held to ransom any more.
Bang on this.

If it gets too complex, and as much as I want Messi I'd walk away and resume our summer business. With or without Messi City are in good hands.

And that would require Messi to be willing to throw away one of his 3 good seasons left under Koeman, with this squad.
Like Simon Jordan and others have said If Barcelona don't come to an agreement to sell (no matter how much he wants to leave) they keep him.

We HAVE to get an agreement with the club and Messi has to force the issue from his end now. The power is with Messi.

The ball is in the court with Messi and Barca. City at this moment are on the sidelines waiting for Messi - Barca to play out then we are in. IMO

Will the nervous Nellies on this thread stop believing the codswallop on Twitter, and then expressing their fears on here.

We are negotiating for the greatest player in history. It’s a huge deal with tremendous implication for us and European football. How about we give it time to play out. These sorts of deals are not completed overnight.
It’s always amusing watching certain posters projecting their own neuroses and insecurities onto threads like this. Virtually none of us have a fucking clue what’s going on and yet people start wetting their nickers at some meaningless Tweet from some no-mark sat in his bedroom ffs.

What about all the other shit he got wrong? But let’s forget that and celebrate him as a new great poster because he guessed a 50/50 decision correctly.

Wouldn’t be a move to us though. I’d be shocked if we want him at 34. 33 is just about the last year that signing him makes sense, imo.

It is simply not true, that Messi has to stay at Barca, if he doesn't want to.

Why the fuck are you quoting Simon Jordan ffs? What does Merson think ?

Wow I'm suprised how gullible people are. Don't believe everything you read. Look at what is really happening behind the scenes. He's not a Barcelona player anymore. He does not wish to play for Barcelona anymore because of the project and president. Plus the massive rebuilding. He wants to play in the highest level and City is the place with all the connections and stuff. He knows this...his Dad knows this...his lawyers know this that there isn't any exit clause. He's only looking for a friendly exit because he's served Barcelona for years that's all.
