That is a fair point and true. My point is that they are under no pressure to start cashing in.

Of course like most clubs they can't afford 100m transfers this window but that revenue alone is enough to keep them afloat.
I’m not saying they have to cash in but from messi’s standpoint why stay. His last few years at the top will he spent playing with sub par players and for a team that can not compete with the best

They have over 200m pounds higher revenue than us. They are paying out crazy amount of wages (over 100m pounds more than anybody else) but they are not in deep shit.

Obviously these numbers are pre-covid but with that revenue there is always flexibility.
In the last year and a bit, they issued bonds 4 times. They completely destroyed their wage structure, now they're clearing out but Messi and Greizman make astronomical amounts.

Lionel spat his dummy out, daddy came over to pick up the pieces.

You've absolutely nailed it. The 8-2 defeat and not winning La Liga plus personal issues between himself and Bartomeu upset him and in a fit of pique he decides he wants out and there's his old boss at man City ( a club that's been courting him for years) ready and willing to take him. Then reality kicks in, in the form of Bartomeu playing hardball, and Messi caves in like a spoilt child.
