For info. just looked up cut off date for Under 23 qualification for Olympic football.
To qualify as U-23 players must be born on or after 1st January 1989.
Micah Richards misses out by just over 6 months.
Daniel Sturridge qualifies by 8 months.
Maybe Micah will be one of the over age players and captain of the GB team?
I think that Woy and Pierce are going to have a sit down at the end of the summer, cut the dead wood from the senior team and see which English players from the U23 GB olympic team can cut it in tournament play. I think that if Micah leads the team instead of Bale or B*ckh@m he will be seen as a leader for the future.
These two things, looking at the squad and assessing Micah's potential are the only benefits that English International football can gain from this summers' tournaments.
When Micah went onto the field to take charge of the Barton situation he showed that he is capable and ready to lead the GB team.
