Yep, the Liverpool way. We killed your loved ones but we are your friends and also victims like you.

Unsurprising the Juve fans were not impressed.

And they still wait for an apology.

I don't have much time for Liverpool, and certainly not for their victim mentality. But the Heysel disaster wasn't remotely a simple matter of one set of fans being the perpetrators and the other being just the victims.

Both sets of fans were at it as much as the other. Both goading. Both getting involved in skirmishes. Both throwing missiles. And it was actually retreating Juve hools who caused the crush and the wall to collapse every bit as much as it was advancing Liverpool hools. Add in to the mix the lack of any effective segregation; policing; and a stadium unfit for purpose. Recipe for disaster in that era.

So Liverpool fans were certainly to blame. But not uniquely so. Juve fans should accept their equal share (but never have, as far as I'm aware). Likewise UEFA; Brussels police etc.

The precipitating event was Liverpool fans firing flares into the Juve fans which was followed by three charges at them over 20 minutes. So there is sustained and multiple attacks, group action, use of weapons, in a stadium, resulting in death of 39 people and injuring over 600 (including children and vulnerable people), I can not see how they could aggravate it more.

The court completely rejected the Liverpool fans self defence argument, they were rightly convicted of the index offense. And Liverpool should accept that and apologise.

Sure there is some mitigation but it is limited and peripheral and does not excuse the Liverpool fans' behaviour or their responsibility for this awful crime.

Liverpool will never change their position on this. The anniversary is passed. And we will discuss again this time next year.

I agree entirely. This is needle for the sake of needle.
Weren't a number of Liverpool fans injured outside the ground in the day run-up to the game? That predates anything in the ground.

Clichy?

Perhaps medal winner Milner will now be a bench warmer again waiting for a suspension in midfield to get a game?

They wouldn't have had to retreat if the scouse ****s weren't attacking them in the first place.

Simply fact is they had and have an disgusting element to their support who cause loads of trouble but then play the victim.

As I said, both sets of fans were attacking each other. It's simply not the case that it was all Liverpool. The only innocents in this tragedy were those Juve fans who were nowhere near the "front line", so to speak. And, sadly, they were the ones who paid the ultimate price. The Juve hools who were attacking Liverpool section and who then retreated were every bit as guilty of causing the tragedy as the Liverpool hools who were attacking the Juve section and who then advanced.

Dominic Solanke looks like your first signing and for just £3m. That could turn out to be the bargain of the century, cos he was sensationally good a couple of years ago against us at U18 level. Tall, quick and plays with his head up. I would expect Sturridge to be shown the door as a consequence

I've not seen much of him if I'm being honest, but I don't think he will feature in the first team at all. I thought this was a 'signing of the future' so to speak. Like Grujic.
