Liverpool (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Office full of dippers, all banging on how we couldn't even beat their 2nd string.
It's gonna be a long day
That's a fair criticism IMO. How many of the Liverpool 11 that started would get into our side?

I'd say VVD and that's about it. Pathetic effort from our lot IMO and I am still pissed off about it.

Not good enough today, literally crumbled after the Ake mistake. Can't let one mistake cause you to fall apart but it did.

Both disappointed but relieved with a point.

However... It SHOULDN'T have come to this. It's on those fucking shoddy mid season draws that meant a draw today was a disappointing result.

Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Spurs and the twats we played today at home. That's where the blame lies. 8 points we squandered in those 4 games. Not saying we should have won all those games and thus be 7 points clear but had we won 1 or 2 of those instead of draw (which we really should have done), a draw today would have been a GREAT result.

We've only ourselves to blame when you look at the bigger picture...

We have to win every game in the PL to retain the title in my view. The margins are that fine.

I'd love us to do it but Jesus Christ we've made it way harder and way more energy sapping as a result. I just can't see a treble repeat as a result. The only reason we cleaned up last season was because Arsenal choked, thus giving us 2 weeks to freshen up. We won't have this this year. Something's got to give. I just hope I'm wrong.

Every team can say that. Liverpool have drawn 7 games and lost 2. A few of those were games they fully expected to win. Same with arsenal with the 8 games they haven't won.

Both of those will be wondering how they dropped points in those games and are now in a fight with just a point or so between the 3 teams.

That's football. Liverpool have failed to win 9 games, arsenal 8, us 9.

So that means all 3 teams drop points in about 1 game in 3 over the course of the season so far. So it's highly unlikely all 3 won't drop more points in the next 10. Its just who drops the least now.

We couldn't match their energy in the 2nd half. Their energy levels were superior (how could Diaz run like this?) and compensated for the inexperience of their younger/new players. People who judge football players or teams on paper are a bit clueless.

Let's be honest here. That was a really bad mistake by Ake, up there with Cancelo or even worse. He's a wonderful squad player, but no more than that. Imagine the comments if that was Gvardiol? Akanji has been the better player last and this season, but you would never guess it by reading this forum. Game of favourites.

Pep has to tweak the midfield. It's very difficult to make room for all of KDB, Foden, Haaland and Alvarez in big (!) games. We got a bit better with Kovacic and Doku. But we miss Gundogan. It's not easy to replace his intelligence, calmness and ability to score from midfield.
Ake has been outstanding this season, we would have been in the creek without a paddle without him

I feared the worst when Salah came on. He's quality and nearly always has a good game against us, but a part from a great ball just after coming on (to Nunez IIRC), thankfully he had a surprisingly poor game.
He obviously wasn't anywhere near 100% fit cos if he was he would have started as they were so depleted

What did people make of the Doku challenge at the end.
To be honest when I saw a few replays at the time, I was shocked that it wasn't given. It was strange though as I didn't think that the appeals were that strong by Liverpool so maybe this played a part.

Fucking daft challenge when he'd time before that to clear the ball. Similar to the Forest players last week who dallied on the ball on the edge of the box and cost them the match.
