Liverpool (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I am still surprised that they didnt give a penalty at the end.
Macallister was very clever, lunged at Doku’s high boot as he was clearing the ball, 9 times out of 10 he con’s the ref like he has conned the very conn-able impartial football journalists. Only 5 more years of constant reminding of this “injustice “ to go

Just watched Dermot knowing what they would say about the non penalty - ref got it wrong.
It gives plenty of slow motion replay's and nobody askes why A. M.made no attempt for the ball but clattered J.D.
Seen lots of examples of the dippers getting between player and the ball just to gain a foul.
Any way them twats can add it to the victim list below the non offside at spurs when the summer's here and they finish second by a point.

This week the victims tears will be sponsored by Manchester City.
“It should’ve been a penalty”
“Doku should’ve been sent off”
“City’s goal shouldn’t have stood”
“Penalty, handball, handball, penalty, handball….”
Can’t believe we lost that game 1-1 ; )

If we win our next 2 games and get a decent draw in Europe then we’d be solid favourites for all 3 competitions. We won’t win all 3 I’m sure and either the league or CL would be amazing but no one could argue what a great position we’d be in.
the FA cup, a back to back CL and Arsenal win the prem, goodbye Jurgen

Struggling to work out whether it's a good point or two more frustrating dropped points in a 'big 6' game.

Started well but Liverpool adjusted to version of our 3412 which began to cause us issues. They could get well into our half with longer passes to Bradley. It also gave them a 4 v 2 in midfield areas when Elliott went narrow.

City more than any other team, rely on controlling the tempo to be at their best. If our attacks end too quickly, we are vulnerable to direct attacks. If we aren't fully committed to our passes and don't move the ball correctly and at the right tempo, we are vulnerable.

We struggled with this yesterday after about 20 minutes. It is tedious watching Alvarez from the start in these games. He doesn't retain the ball well enough to play anywhere else but upfront. The team becomes clunky and we lose control. He cost Rodri a yellow card which caused us issues in the second half (Diaz carrying the ball against him)

There has to be some adjustment in our shape or how we press too. Unless we are absolutely bang on it like against United, teams are getting beyond the first line too easily.

I'm worried we aren't going to find the gear to win the big trophies this season. Possibly a change in approach is needed now. Or we won the lot last season and it's physically & mentally a step too far. Lots of questions!

Let’s be honest we would take a point at anfield
They were more likely to win by the end but we did ok
We battered them first half as well
They took an undeserved point at our place that’s football
My main concerns were Kev had no legs, erling looked awful and Alvarez will cost us the league in midfield if he keeps playing
Against Arsenal we have to be better but the crowd will help
