We got given an advantage when Haaland is fouled. Once Haaland fouls him back then the advantage stops. Same way that Haaland wouldn’t have been able to pick the ball up and run it into the goal.

The VAR literally HAS to tell the ref to check again as per the laws. It pisses me off and I was livid at the time but it’s still correct.
You know, you're hundred percent right. Then again, there's the run and spirit of the game. You'd be hard pressed to find a Scouse fan who would rather have Szoboszlai sent off for 1-3 games than to have the goal count. To me, it was 50-50 - Szobo pulled Haaland; Haaland pulled him. Ball goes into the net. 3-1, game. And I think it was the absurdity of it. Going to VAR when we were past stoppage. Game not in doubt. Risk of injury if they continue playing. But - I loved the ending all the same.

The typical response to going a goal down recently would have been the game fizzled out and city barely made a chance. Clearly an attitude difference last night. They really fucking wanted it and at the end of the day you create your own luck. Massive momentum shift in the season now you feel. Grab it with both hands city.

As lawyers sometimes say, 'Hard cases make bad law', meaning you can have a difficult case
causing the clarity of a legal rule to be obscured by an exception which has been designed to achieve the 'right' result in a particular case.

Still annoying though!

That's exactly what happed to Kushanov when he took the knee to the head. After the lino kept the flag down.

No.its not correct.it was a goal
A natural goal .as the ball rolled over the line.
Anything after is just .....Control....Power..
I really do not know why we as football fans accept this .
I really don't
Made me sick.
They have fucked up the game..with their rules.and folk just accept it.
Why?

Over the Blue Moon . Made my 2026 .

Not least because that freak goal they scored (and we had already seen a dozen times while the match was going on) wasn't the winner and it was Szoboslai who kept Bernie onside for our first then he gets sent off ....Ha Ha Ha.

Also the disallowed goal stuff top trumps any whining they are putting out there about Guéhi and DGSO.

Ha Ha Ha

What a win. The lads showed some minerals to come back and win in that fashion. There has been a lot of criticism aimed at some players this year and rightly so but you live for moments like yesterday. Fair play to everyone yesterday.

Shades of 2003 as well with a late winner and a great save at the end.

Come on city.

So him and his club shouldn’t be penalised at all for a red card offence? People are completely converting the rules.
VAR and plenty on here are obsessed with rules. The spirit of the game and the discretion of the ref are being lost. The purpose of VAR is to correct clear and obvious errors, not to re-ref the game according to a strict interpretation of the rules.
Rules serve the game not the other way round.

I find myself what would have happened had Erl not fouled Szoboslai. Szoboslai would have made the clearance and you can 100% guarantee that Pawson would not have pulled it back for the original foul on Erl.

Since neither of them touched the ball it should have been treated as an off the ball incident, both should have been booked and the goal should have stood
