Our number one keeper and crucial to our build-up is missing, and so is one of the best central defenders in the world, Laporte. So I get people are not too hopeful.

good news Rodri plays and city will be 4.5.1 in defending and 4.3.3 in attack, looks ok and i don't think we are going to defended and we will offer more going forward with Rodri, sitting in the defences mid-field role and i can see pep giving KDB a free role in the attacking 3rd

People don't see (or don't want to see) what he contributes to the team when he plays. They only choose to focus on the negatives.

I wouldn’t rule out him playing 5 at the back with Rodri as one of the centre backs.

Maybe I’m just hoping. I’m more concerned about Gundogan as an 8 than I am with our defence.

Big bonus that gundogan isn’t in the holding role. Still would rather Fernandinho in midfield though but that was never going to happen so it’s the best we can expect.

Big trust placed in angelino, I’m assuming mendy is injured again but cancelo is on the bench so big vote of confidence for him to get the nod. needs to perform though, I don’t like the prospect of him defending deep crosses to the back post, I expect them to target that if not from the off, definitely the second half if things are tight.

If silva is fit for the bench he should start imo. Rather see him start and gundogan replace him when he’s spent

Going to need numerous performances of the season from the players sent out today to get anything but they’re capable.

Even with Rodri in the lineup, Gundogan could still be the DM. But most likely it's a dual base like the last time they played together.
