Only concern is Liverpool front players are on form & won’t miss as many chances as we do. We really need to control midfield to win this. If pep tries to go gung ho on the attack we will get caught out too many times.

I would sacrifice a striker for the first 60 mins put fern in & keep the ball & control midfield then hit them in the last 20 mins

Bookmakers and 538 have as as favourites.

Think 538 is more likely to get things right than most fans and pundits. One reason is that well prepared statistical models are far less susceptible to the recency bias. Several bad/good results and many fans and pundits are ready to project long-term tendencies of decline or success.

A case in point is the start of last season. Many wrote City off. Not 538 though! 538 had us as clear favourites even when we were midtable in November!

Generally, Pep's City are one of the greatest teams ever in terms of league form. Pep's City 17/19 outperformed Pep's Barca 09/11! We may lose at Anfield on Sunday, but we are good enough to win the league again. Shit happens and we may fail this season, but I think that once KDB, Foden and Grealish gell and get going, we will be hard to stopp. Fingers crossed we avoid seriois injuries to key players like them.

We haven’t lost to Liverpool since 2019, it’s hardly like they have our number at the moment. Will be a tough game though and I would imagine they will go at the game with a lot more intent than what Chelsea did. Full backs have to be disciplined and not got give Salah and Mane a sniff. We have to forward players to peg their full backs in, just need to make sure we don’t end up on the receiving end of the 20 minutes blitz where they take the game away from the opposition.

We control games by pressing the oppo defenders. A forward like Jesus who can press Robertson and VVD may be more useful defensively than having another defensive player instead of him. We defend from the front, not by many bodies in our half. Choosing a cautious starting XI may indicate we fear them and invite attacks.

They'll be just like PSG, looking to pick us off on the break and force mistakes. I think it will be the toughest game of the three personally, especially at Anfield.

However, got the duck off the back with our win there last season so that should bring confidence. I'd like to see the same 11 that played against Chelsea. Or using Torres in the false 9 role and having two of Foden/Grealish/De Bruyne playing middle/wide left. Jesus has to start and play wide right for his pressing, work rate and movement.

I'm confident we'll get the win.

I'm not sure Fern has got the legs anymore for such a role
