JFT 39. Liverpool FC's take on that is interesting.
According to them 39 'people died where they fell when a wall collapsed'.So that's that then.
I wonder if Juventus feel they've had justice.
Apparently, there is not one common donominator between the two events. Not even the obvious one. Sorry for not towing the party line but I'll be staying respectful on the day for my own reasons and thoughts. If you don't like that point of view, call me a moron online. I'll be this arsed.

I will be respectful on the day too.

The fact that 39 Juventus fans were murdered is an issue for another day / month.
However badly the Liverpool fans behaved that night the 39 died when a wall collapsed. That's not murder by any known definition of the word. It doesn't absolve the Liverpool fans from blame however.

Like Hillsborough, Heysel was a crumbling, unsafe stadium unfit to host a major game. But at the end of the day, it wouldn't have happened if the Liverpool fans hadn't behaved like animals.

It always intrigues me how people use Heysel as an excuse to justify a lack of compassion over Hillsborough. It's like saying that someone who was once done for speeding somehow deserved to be the victim of a subsequent, serious road accident.

I do think Heysel shaped people's attitudes to Hillsborough. It wasn't really surprising that the police's (and the government's and the Sun's) version of events regarding Hillsborough was so readily accepted. People believed it because they'd seen similar and worse scenes 4 year's earlier. And even when it became clear that the Liverpool fans weren't to blame, it took a long time for people outside of Liverpool to support the campaign for justice because of the perceived contrast of the attitudes of Liverpudlians towards Heysel.

I'll admit that it was at least 10 years before my views on Hillsborough changed. Of course I was always very sympathetic as far as the families were concerned. But it took me a long time to stop feeling hostile towards the club and the fans.

I also find it interesting that if I call someone a moron I'll get a warning for breaching the code of conduct, and yet a moderator does it and its 'being entitled to an opinion'. Brilliant.

I think it's great when people can be as thick as mince and completely defiant about it at the same time. More power to you.

So you don't think anyone connected to Liverpool FC was culpable for what occurred at Heysel in 1985?

I have met some of the families of the Hillsborough victims and they have my total sympathy. Aim your muck spreading elsewhere.

I also think that the families of the people who died had Heysel haven't had real justice.

I take your point that both stadia were inadequate and contributed to the sad deaths.

We are City, we are classy and we will show proper respect. They were ordinary football fans like us and the cover-ups have been a disgrace. Seriously, what is there to argue about?

Much as I hated my namesake, he made a point of praising City fans for their behaviour at the Munich commemoration.

There are some occasions when tribalism should take a back seat.
