Liverpool FA Cup s/f (N) | Post Match Thread

No one and that’s the problem our best forward who we are pinning our hopes on is a centre forward who doesn’t like to in that position . He works like an horse and his commitment is second to none but that doesn’t help us .

Contributing 5 goals/assists in 5 big games this season (Chelsea, PSG, Liverpool 3), every 70-80 minutes, is quite productive from the lad. If the other forwards match his productivity in the big games, we'll be fine. Portraying him as a grafter who does little more than running around is wrong.

If you count only the biggest games (Chelsea, PSG, Liverpool, Atletico) this season, Jesus is up there with KDB. (Not counting United, for they haven't been good enough).

Goals/assists:

Jesus 5
KDB 4
Bernardo 3
Foden 2
Cancelo 2
Sterling 1
Mahrez 1
Grealish 1

I switched off as soon as the third went in, went to my happy place , gogglebox , not reading all the bile and vile stuff aimed at the team in this thread and most of the others

Over it already
Did your happy place include David Cassidy or Donny Osmond ;-)

Sorry, but some of you need to give you’re heads a wobble. 97 people went to a match and didn’t come home. Mainly kids, older folk who went early to get a decent spot to watch a match. If you can’t shut your face for a minute to respect those folk, there’s something seriously wrong with your moral stance.

doesn’t matter what team they supported, doesn’t matter that their clubs fans are the most entitled cultish babies in the world, doesn’t matter that the chances are that those indirectly and directly responsible for their deaths were there yesterday. The people that died deserve respect.

I went to the Swamp for the derby on the 50th anniversary of Munich. Everyone expected the City fans to disrupt the silence but every single one behaved perfectly and you could have heard a pin drop. Every. Single. One.

we were a fucking embarrassment off the field yesterday before the match and no amount of bad-mouthing the scousers for being utter pricks (and let’s face it, it’s not difficult is it) will make it ok to disrespect a group of people that could easily have been you or me that day.
I think you've been a bit blinded by the reaction to the "storm in a tea cup" here mate.

Nobody on here is really saying that the people who died don't deserve any respect, not really; they're just reacting to the over the top condemnation that we're receiving.

The main difference between the 50th anniversary of Munich and the 33rd anniversary of Hillsborough is that one was planned and known about for weeks in advance, whilst the other seemed to be sprung on people out of the blue.

I was at Molineux near the end of the 2001/2 season when both teams were pushing for promotion. The Queen Mother had just died and there was an impromptu minutes silence prior to the game. Just like yesterday, nobody knew it was planned; and just like yesterday people who were on the concourses were singing before and during the "silence", unaware that it was even happening. That day the Wolves fans booed us and spat on us from above and after the match the Wolves fans that I knew at the time gave me loads of shit and asked me what our problem was with the Queen Mother.

Do you think we honestly had a problem with the Queen Mother to disrespect her in such a way?
Do you think we honestly have a problem with the Hillsborough victims to disrespect them in such a way?

Like I said, people, you included, are getting carried away with the reaction; it wasn't disrespect it was oblivion.

Not going to criticize the fans who went yesterday. I didn't go.

But our 'vocal support' at Wembley has been getting worse since the high of beating United in the semi-final, and Stoke in the the final.

Not sure it's the amount of trips to Wembley, or just the general malaise of our support at Wembley.

its not just Wembley. Our vocal support in general is getting worse. It was better when we didn’t win trophies.

The semi final against United I haven’t heard an atmosphere as good as that. So we are more then capable

we’ve become lazy as a fanbase and lots of our fans look bored and almost as if they don’t want to be at the match

Jesus was our only good forward in the CL final last season n’all.

In fact, you look at big games over the years, Gabriel Jesus very regularly turns up, works his bollocks off, often plays well, and often scores (yesterday two the formers were true but things just didn’t come off for him).

Over the last few weeks, Jesus has looked by far our most lively and hard working forward. He looks like he wants picking for the run-in.
I agree with you, Jesus has played well over the last few weeks, especially against Liverpool in the League. Unfortunately, he is not the most clinical of finishers which frusrates many on here but that can be labelled at a number of our players.

So strange as an 8 year old i begged my dad to try and get me a '76 cup final ticket (he didn't but went himself ☺️). '81 went..best thing ever...then the modern success ...semi finals at Wembley are shit but yesterday was just piss poor. Why sing in a fking car park then not a murmur in the ground. Really doesn't help our already baytered club.

If we had played Athletico on Tuesday and Liverpool today, you would have seen a very different side. Pep would still have played Steffen because he is loyal to his players. Just unfortunate the way fixtures are arranged at the critical point in the season.
yep. still have the injuries though .
