Liverpool fans throwing missiles from South Stand Level 3

The irony of the coins being removed at the turnstiles is that when buying a beer or a burger once inside the ground, they were given coins as part of their change

Nothing to do with safety probably. Just saw an opportunity to enforce an illegal tax on football fans, which nobody really gave a shit about. Until recently at least.

The Rome qualifier in 1997 took belts and coins, anything metal that wasn't haberdashery, and no change given inside. Then fans were left to it once inside, zero stewarding.

"Liverpool at home?"

Great trip that though. I more or less retired from England duty after those ‘98 Finals. Apart from the odd one here or there since.

Oh, what a surprise, the Spirit of Shankly rears it’s ugly head and big Scouse gob again. Who the f*ck do they think they are?

From the Liverpool (FC) Echo.

Liverpool supporters' group Spirit of Shankly have also expressed their displeasure at the move.

“We acknowledge there have been issues involving both sets of supporters in recent seasons, but this course of action is counter-productive," said a statement. "At the corresponding fixture last season, Liverpool fans experienced overzealous stewarding and policing, and were locked in the ground after the match with no access to toilets.

At least Spirit of Shankly can be happy that we didn't lock them in this time, there was fuck all of them left by the end.

I just watched the whole match. I didnt notice any netting around the dippers. Was there any ? Did City back down ?
It was just netting laid across the seats that were empty because of the Scousers reduced allocation.
The reduced allocation was all around the blocks occupied by them, and it put them a few feet further away from City fans. And there appeared to be more stewards all around them, to keep an eye out for stuff being thrown by them.
There was no netting hanging from the roof,as some people on here had suggested should be used.

There was netting in the corner of SS2 and dippers in SS3
