Just a reccy on where we are up to squad wise. Currently 10 players still at the world cup but at least one coming home this weekend (holland v argies) and a good chance 5 more from england.

Of the 10 only the top 4 below have been first choice - Cancelo youd think is now dropped for the rest of the tournament however far they go and the way that portugal played in the 6-1.

So it’s really only Bernardo and Dias id be concerned about as they look good to make the semis which is 1 week before the league cup game. Plus maybe Ake and Stones if their teams get any further - we know Alvarez won’t be first choice for city anyway.

In a way we could do with England going out to France now rather than the disappointment of a final loss (say). That would wipe out 3 or 4 of our first team until after the FA cup given that Pep would have to surely let them have a break to get over it. Cmon Morocco as well.

If England get knocked out on Saturday, I think you add Grealish and Phillips available for selection bearing in mind how little game time they have had.

Yes, need France and Morocco to win otherwise all the semi finalists are there until virtually the end as there is the meaningless 3/4 place game. Can't see Morocco doing to Portugal what they did to Spain though I can see France beating us. One of Ake or Alvarez will be back soon as they play each other tomorrow but think Eddy, Alvarez and the Portuguese players will be there until the end.

The 3rd place playoff game is the worst most meaningless game in world football anyway (even the Comm shield raises some dough), but this time around mid season even more so.
Whoever “qualifies” should just fuck off home - or just go straight to penalties from the off, and have it on the pitch before the final ;-)
