That Henry Winter piece is warning
if the dippers win the league, ass licking will be unbearable. For the sake of peace we need to beat them tomorrow and win the title too

Most teams will want us to win it over them. That is why this is a real test for them. Everyone hates their media attention and most clubs will step up for them now. The rags will roll over for us if it stops Liverpool winning it!

Am I right in thinking that the match highlights are not being shown on Freeview TV as there is only one MOTD episode, which is on this evening. At the weekend all media eyes will be on the FA Cup. At least the match will be on BBC 5Live radio, small consolation. Don't really want to watch it at the local boozer as the vast majority there are Rag or Dipper supporters.

We murdered them in the first half of the UCL 2nd leg,
Whilst they slapped us 3-0 at home, they were in no way superior or dominant in the way we were for that first half & I will go as far as saying that is the most perfect performance I have ever seen from a team live in my life - up until the disallowed goal.
It was 3-4-3 and go for broke that night, but I don't expect anything like that tomorrow

If KDB was fit I would have gone with
Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Danilo - Fernandinho, KDB, D.Silva - B.Silva, Aguero, Sane

Sterling has been immense all year but the balance of Bernardo on the right was so good that night and it also offers a 'edge of the box' option with his shooting, something Sterling hasn't really got consistently

They're probably the best side in Europe at picking up second/loose balls, and thats about it in terms of how highly I rate their general play, albeit it affective.
If we aren't bang on it they will pick up every bit of change in the middle of the pitch and loop those curly long balls into the channel for one of the 3 rats to chase, and we will be in trouble. Coin toss for me!

They’ve scored 18 goals in their last 5 league games, conceding 2 (and they were to the rags and Arsenal), GD of +16.

We’ve scored just 9 goals in our last 5 league games, also conceding 9 goals, GD of 0.

It’s purely bias to say that they are merely “getting results”.
Totally disagree. If they were "on fire" as described, they would have buried us when we visited and not dependent on a cock up by Everton in the dying moments

Can't believe the how much praise the dippers are getting for the win over arsenal 2 pens and 2 goals handed to them on a plate if they are in for a shock 2moro night.

Liverpool went to Arsenal and gave away a bag full of chances that arsenal couldn't take, PSG had plenty of chances against them, Everton had numerous opportunities at Anfield in the first half ect It's not like they're defensively solid, They do give away chances and it's up to us to put them away tomorrow night.

I think this game will be a bridge to far considering poor form of late and injuries. With KDB looking likely to miss out or not be fully fit we miss that key fast pass from deep midfield that lets Sterling and Sane lose into open space causing problems. The slower build up leaves them stuck in traffic and their threat nullified. Personally I would go Three at the back for this one with both Kun and Jesus up front putting big pressure on their central defence where there just might be a wobble. I don't think we have the spark at the minute to go at them like we did in the 2nd leg of the CL. I think if we do it will end up like the 2nd half of that game when they got joy on the counter. We must stay on level terms in this one for as long as possible and hopefully Kun will come up with a goal. Don't like leaving Sane on the bench as he has been our brightest light lately as for Sterling not worth a starting place on the basis of previous form against the dippers but you always hope that maybe this could be his night. If we defend for our lives and get the crowd going we can win this but we need luck for this one I fear.
I think the defensive approach that we used at Anfield would be a good idea. We looked really comfortable and should have won. My point is if we do that we don’t need to defend for our lives or rely on (much!) luck.

I have disturbing visions of a red card for Fernandinho after receiving a second yellow card for a Salah nosedive.

Reddit, that's all I'll say on the matter.

Ederson
Walker
Kompany
Laporte
Danilo
Fernandinho
De Bruyne
David Silva
Bernardo Silva
Sane
Aguero

Think we will need Raheem on the RHS (he will be more effective than Bernardo / Kev), so I feel your team will be close but with Raheem at the expense of Kev (if not fit), otherwise Bernardo

I only put Bernardo there as we can become versatile if something isn’t working and it can give Liverpool a variety of problems? Bernardo could switch with Leroy or kev for a bit? Plus I think ball retention and movement will be key. If Raheem starts badly or gets worked out be Robertson the only option we have is for Leroy and Raheem to swop wings? Plus imo Raheem running at a tired Robertson would give him more impact.

Mosssideblue are you not a tricky trev believer? Open your eyes to the tricky light and your life would be more fulfilled...accept the truth - city are not playing well and will lose on Thursday!!!

As did Wolves. Had three sitters they missed. Meanwhile we have conceded two blinding goals despite otherwise being largely in control of games albeit not to our usual levels. It is fine margins and should we manage to pick 50pts up from the second 19 games of the season (tough but possible for our team) and they concede those chances and drop points we will still win it.

We need to beat them though. A draw would be okay but beating them will destroy their morale and help others take confidence when they play them. They went hard at pre-season and I have always expected them to suffer from that by Feb time onwards. Maybe they will get away with it but their intensity is the key to their performances. They don't pass and control games, they play quick and directly and having now been doing so since July/early August I expect they will start feeling that very soon.

Stay injury free and we have De Bruyne, Aguero, Sane, Ferny and Silva all having had time off through rest, injury or rotation and they (amongst others) will help carry us through the tougher second half of the season when more is at stake.

Kompany must play tomorrow for me. He knows how big this game is and if he is up for it and on his game will have their whole team in his pocket. I can see him destroying Van Dijk and scoring the winning goal with another header as he did v rags in 2012

I share your confidence and nodded along with your whole post. They’ve had no key injuries or unlucky results yet, either.

Definitely Stones ahead of Konpany for me in this one, though. The way Liverpool play channel balls behind you, I want stones clearing that up, not Vinny, who’s better in duels/battles these days.

I'm not a flapper, by any means, but I am not confident for this one at all - they are flying and we look well off the pace by comparison. In addition, their record V us over the past 10 years has probably been better than anyone's

At some point we have to start to change that record.

We have done it against the other clubs in the PL , and no reason why we can't start tomorrow.
