Wether we win or loose this game, it has no bearing on the season what so ever, and already we are putting pressure on Haaland, we assume he will hit the ground running, well what if he doesn't? Their is no guarantee, Alvarez again no guarantee, we have just lost 3 very experienced premier league players, and replaced with 2 unproven and 1 who played 1 season with Leeds in the prem
Gosh......he's only been gone 5 minutes......and already Fernandinho's forgotten about.
Anyway, never mind that.
All four signings look a good fit.
In my humble opinion.

You should do the team talks

Loads of people predicting Haaland to score. I really don't see him playing. Pep isn't going to want to give Klopp a free look at our new striker against his team ahead of the league meetings. He may get 20-30 minutes for fitness purposes but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't used at all.

Ortega
Walker
Stones
Laporte(if fit)
Wilson-Esbrand
Phillips
Gundogan
Bernardo
Foden
Mahrez
Alvarez

Players who missed the tour need the game time. alvarez needs to settle and get in tune with the others. Phillips should start, could easily be alongside Rodri but in a game with little consequence, throw him in the deep end and see how he does. Similarly, If he has any thoughts about potentially using Wilson-Esbrand this season, seeing what he's about against these lot and how he copes with a likely roasting from Salah will give Pep a good indication of his level and cancelo is a naturally fit lad and won't need much to get into top gear.

Fernadinho was a loss that was happening anyway, end of career, all the other 3 still in their 20's and still in their prime, and with bags of experience

Though that is true, the players we let go were no longer main players in the team, and the ones we have bought have potentially higher ceilings. It is a season to be excited to see what will emerge: old players, new players, young talent and new formations.
Jesus in my opinion was class, as was sterling on his day, Zinchenco was a warrior, and yes we replaced them, but now the bench is massively weaker, your telling me Palmer is close to jesus and sterling? Sorry but he is nowhere near, neither in my opinion are any of the other academy lads that will take the places on the bemch

They were all class.
We have lost Jesus, Raz and Zin and we have bought Haaland, Alvarez and Phillips. Personally, I don't think that is weaker.
Do I think Palmer is close to Gabby and Raz - yes. I think he has a higher ceiling than both, or as high a ceiling.
What I do think we need is one or two full backs. I like Wilson-Esbrand but I think he needs to be eased in, rather than forced in because there is no option.

Palmer is nowhere near close to any of them, he has played bit part games and had a good game against a lower league team in the F.A. Cup, Gabby Brazilian International, Sterling England International, zinchenco Ukrainian International, all with bags of experience, All with experience how to win the prem, not sure what you mean by this ceiling stuff

The 3 players leaving have been replaced with top notch replacements. We're definitely not weaker than left season especially when we sign a leftback. CTID

I think that Palmer is potentially better than them but I don't grasp why you are talking only about him- we signed Haaland, Phillips and Alvarez.
