It’s clear we can’t play our best team for this one.

City: Had to travel, injuries to key players, the rest with lumps kicked out of them, very tired first 11

Liverpool: played at home, rested most of their team, no fresh injuries

It’s Chelsea all over again. The way the stars have (or haven’t) aligned for us means it’s going to be one of those disjointed rotation performances. Can we win with such a performance? Probably not to be honest. Not impossible, but definitely unlikely.

Could be our best victory of recent times.Given the state of our squad, who are clearly on their arse, with only another 48hrs to 'recover',we are very much underdogs in this game.
Without a fully fit Dias and Walkers pace, the Tramp's forward line will be licking their lips against a tired and fairly static back 4.

My line up

----------Eddie------
Cancelo-Stones-Dias-Ake
-------Rodri--Gundo----
------------Bernie-------
Foden------Gabby----Grealish

Think Liverpool are likely to be the better team in terms of created/conceded chances, but it's about time that we win a game in which we are sort of out played.

Liverpool will be the favourites, not sure that this is a position they want to be in, though. They prefer the underdog role. The rising expectations may get to them.

Ultimately, much depends on the injuries. If KDB and Walker are available on the bench, we'll have a chance to win, provided that Liverpool are not 2 goals clear after 60 minutes.

Jesus, Sterling and Grealish are fresh so we can certainly press high and pin their full backs again. The long balls over their full backs / high line were key in the first game. Fernandinho is great at those passes too.

Agree on Bernardo but he's one of our fittest players. If KDB is unavailable then we'll need his heart and desire in the middle. Plus he hates the scousers as much as us.

High-pressing is too risky if there are gaps in midfield, it's not only about the front 3.

Bernardo was subbed because he was knackered, not because Pep wanted to save his energy for Liverpool. He's fit, but starting 4 games in a row vs Atlético/Liverpool over 10 days is risky. Bernardo had a poor game, and that's not a coincidence. He shouldn't be flogged to death.

I don't think Pep will start Dias from the beginning..

Liverpool game against their well-rested first-team players and a high tempo will be a difficult to play after the injury, so I think he will substitute someone in the second half..

But AKE will definitely start..

Still fatigue them big time mentally and physically. Yeah they aint sat on a ryanair flight but travelling is knackering however you look at it

what sort of kip do u think they got last night after that? All sportsmen say how difficult it is to rest after a night time game.

so travel home today, bit of stretching friday and then straight into another huge game saturday after another night in a hotel
They were home by 3am.
