I've tried to be patient with Mangala but I get the impression that he would rather be elsewhere.that result was less about Liverpool and more about Mangala and Demichelis not being good enough

Walking up Alan Turing way yesterday when I saw the team. My reaction will have been the same as everyone else's. Absolutely staggered that after being more pragmatic in recent weeks (something I have complimented Pellers on) he reverted back to type.
Sagna looked all over the show. Totally understandable after the events in Paris. Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumb at centre back are just an accident waiting to happen and i thought the days of yaya in a midfield 2 in the big games were gone. Clearly not.
We still have time to put things right ". Let's hope Pellers now realises the error of his ways .
The positive for me was the performances of Delph. Thought he gave our midfield pace and lots of energy. Hope to see him and Fernandinho start in midweek.
pelligrini has actually stated he would play the same team again, old dogs and new tricks i`m afraid, lets take him to the vets at our first opportunity

The difference between our defeat and that of madrid yesterday was that madrid got beat by the best team in their league. While we got beat by a team with firmino upfront and the likes of emre can, lucas, lovren...... Come on it gets no worse than this. Making them look like barcelona.
The time has come, injury permitting, to bring back Zabba and Clichy for a longer run in this team. Also hopefully Silva will be fit enough to return from Wednesday. I would drop Yaya and play Hart, Zabba, Ottamendi, Kompany(if fit), Clichy, Fernandinho, Delph, DeBryune, Silva,Sergio, Sterling. As our first choice team. Navas, to be first sub. Yaya would hate it but he has been very poor and apart from odd phases is a liability. Onward and upward, come on Manuel make the changes.

The main issue yesterday was the central back triangle of defensive players.
Demichelis, Mangala and Fernando.
Demichelis is now way past his best and hasn't played enough football since May to be thrown into a game like that. He was like a fish out of water.
Mangala obviously didn't play well. Perhaps he needs to play alongside another centre half in great form to make up for his failings.
Fernando. We never ever play well with Fernando in a midfield two. Ever. With Yaya and Fernandinho, Yaya does the ball work and Fernandinho does the leg work. You don't get any leg work at all out of Yaya and Fernando, who is completely imobile. It's not like Fernando played worse than anyone else, it's just that he doesn't offer enough. It's ok when he plays in a midfield three because he has to just get in the way, but that isn't enough in a two.
League/CL results with Fernando starting this season are 1-4L 0-0 3-1W 0-0 1-4L. That says it all.

When I saw the team that MP was putting out I feared the worse.Liverpool play to overload mid-field,we had ONE midfield player + and I hate saying this but Yaya was awful,like a six foot totem pole that Liverpool could stroll pass naturally we were over run.The two Ferdies and Delf should have started.Joe Hart started the panic by racing to the East stand to kick into touch,Should have kicked it into the second level,but no it finished in the Liverpool players hands,panic run back to cover his goal.His so so slow efforts to move the ball in his possession gave 'Pool time to tighten-up on the marking,so the only option was the long hoof,and possession given away.And what is this forward then pass back ,forward pass back,'Pool given time again to close down on City players.'Pool players looked fit,sharp,good movement OFF the ball.Yes I was one of the thousands who walked out in disgust,never did v Gillingham,vQPR, or the the win at Spurs in the Cup under Keegan.The players were inept,but MP team selection was a disgrace.The least said about Martin & Mangala the better,but a better mid field they might have don better.

We play two most of the time in the league and one of them is usually Yaya with mostly successful results. The problem is Fernando in a two. The results with him there are shambolic. This season and last.
