Liverpool Post Match Thread

Christ some people are embarrassing on here. Pellegrini out ..... ok he has made a few mistakes tactically but the amount is a lot less that the decisions he has got right. Its as much the players fault as Pellegrini. People was praising him vs sevilla ( o what a great line up he got it spot on ) have a bit of loyalty and stick by the man in charge, thats how you get sustained success !!!or at the very least keep the fucking consistency with your comments.

Sorry if this is technically off topic but can anyone suggest a torrent site that I might get to download last night's MOTD from? Think I can face it now. Thanks.
DONT DO IT. If you seen a real life rape occur why would you be sick enough to want to watch it again?

Confidence went out of the window once I saw Otamendi and Fernandinho were dropped to the bench, two recent best performers. I don't like how Demichelis has started two league games and both have been 4-1 thrashings where our defence is at sea, he should be gone in the summer.

If we want to progress I'm afraid MDM should have been gone LAST summer or at best played in games against anyone but the likes of a mobile team with lots of energy......like them!

My assessment of yesterday's game is as follows:

Poor team selection, Fernandinho and Otamendi should have played now matter how 'tired' from a luxurious flight they might be.

Pellers was tactically bummed.

i got a lot of stick in the summer for suggesting the unthinkable - that we had targeted the wrong areas. I said all along that we were in desperate need of another CM. Without Yaya (who has done nothing this season) and Fernandinho who to his credit has been great we have nothing in midfield.

Fernando and Delph are about championship level. Yesterday should be seen as a collective; wrong transfer strategy in the summer, poor management from Pellers and players off form.

And I now hope some of the know it alls on here start to realise that.
delph is better than championship level ,

Man City PL goals conceded this season with Kompany on pitch (720 mins): 1.

Man City PL goals conceded, Kompany NOT on pitch (405 mins): 11.

The 1 conceded was the one Hart dropped vs Palace as well.

Lots of people are hurting, largely, I suspect because of having to listen to Redknapp, Carragher, Owen, Mcmanaman, Thompson, Quinn etc crowing in the media. For me, I recognise that, without days like yesterday I wouldn't have enjoyed putting them in their place quite as much as I have. And, to be honest, I've loved every second of their outrage and indignation. It really is their cup final and I don't say that lightly. They approach games against the rags with a huge inferiority complex but games against us as though we are the architects of their current lowly status. Deliciously, they are justified in that belief so I'm not surprised they burst every sinew to beat us. To his credit, Pellegrini sees the game for what it is, just another game against a mid-table side and, rightly, expected the players to turn in a competent performance sufficient to beat them. The point is, we have bigger fish to fry in midweek which, in the scheme of things, we can do and still win the league comfortably, injuries permitting.
Bigger fish to fry ? Bigger than staying top of the premier league, utter utter garbage. Unfortunately the players seem to think the same, the manager certainly does.

I know this won't be roundly supported or indeed too popular but the major issue I have with Pellegrini is his relationship with and insistence upon nearly alway playing Navas. Now don't get me wrong, Navas is an okay player in my mind but brilliant for squad purposes, he shouldn't be starting every game.

Yesterday's team, IMO was quite literally built to accommodate Navas, I won't say built around him, but it's getting close to that.

Playing Navas in the only position he could play meant we had to

1) Push Yaya back into a position we know he struggles with, he is just not good enough defensively any more.

2) To accommodate 1. we had to drop Fernandinho - absolutely ridiculous decision.

This left the back four exposed as there was inadequate cover in the DM.

Why did he not start with Fernando and Fernandinho playing behind Yaya, Sterling and DeBryne? I just cannot understand why he goes to such lengths to give someone, a thirty year old, who is good but...... a game.

The back four and not playing Otamendi can only be about his physical fitness and readiness to play having returned from Argentina last Tuesday.

If Pellegrini makes this mistake one more time my patience with him will have totally run out!
