Liverpool Post Match Thread

Still pissed of with Pellegrini team choice and the lazy fuckers yesterday. You watch other teams put a shift in and then you watch 7 to 8 of our players strolling around without a care in the world fucking annoying.

Why will it be justified if we beat Juventus ?

We have already qualified so who gives a fuck, if we are going to win the CL then we will have to beat top teams wether we top the group or not, some carry on on here like its some kind of fucking nirvana if we reach the quarter finals.

Losing yesterday was at the expense of Pellegrinis last chance of him ever doing anything in the competition, he dented our hopes of winning the PL yesterday and it fucking stinks.

We win in Turin , we do not draw Bayern , Real or Barca in the next round , we lost to the dippers and we have twenty odd games to recover , i will help you work it out. Would i swap beating the dippers for a champs league quarter final ? Give me the champs league quarter final every time .

Strolling around? we were run ragged!

I've been thinking about last night's game all day and had to get some things written down, so i wrote the following. It's a bit long and waffling but feel free to read!

One night last season I walked to the Etihad knowing full well what was about to unfold in the 90 minutes of football that lay ahead. We were playing a Barcelona team that had a midfield 3 consisting of Iniesta, Busquets and Rakutic and Manuel Pellegrini had decided to combat this with a brand new midfield partnership of Milner and Fernando. Not only this; but Pellegrini played the following four players in front of the brand new midfield: David Silva, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero. Not only did this tactic leave the fledgling partnership a man short in the middle of midfield but also meant Zabaleta and Clichy were essentially playing one-on-one versus Neymar and Messi respectively. I lost a lot of faith in the manager that night.
So, to last night and that same feeling of inevitable dread. This time the manager decides to rest Fernandinho (our best player of the season) and Otamendi versus a rejuvenated Liverpool. This left City with the central defensive “partnership” of Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala. Pellegrini will have his reasons for resting the two South Americans but it was apparent before kick-off it was a grave error; and it was even more apparent 20 minutes into the game.
It’s hard to be taken seriously as a City supporter voicing concerns when your team lies a couple of points from the top of the league and have already qualified for the knock-out stages of the Champions League (a task we usually find hard to do); but these are my main concerns:
Pellegrini
His tactical naivety, or as I see it stubbornness is a big problem. Liverpool were always going to have 3 in midfield yesterday and they were always going to press high up the pitch. How were City not prepared for this? And playing Yaya and Fernando in a midfield 2 against an energetic opposition is suicide.
Yaya
Yaya has been brilliant at City and will be long remembered but he needs to go now and be replaced with at least one young, ambitious, technically-gifted player. And when he does leave I hope he doesn’t slag off the club – because I’ve an awful feeling he will and tarnish his standing here.
Anyway, other concerns as follows:
Why can’t we control possession against half-decent opposition?
Fernando went hiding yesterday, please don’t resort to the player of last season
Why doesn’t De Bruyne take all set pieces – surely we are hindering ourselves?
You're not alone.
I also had a feeling of déjà vu yesterday which went back to that Barcelona game when the team selection was so obviously wrong.
I lost faith in Pellers that night but thought he might have changed after our good start to the season.
Doubts then crept in following the West Ham game culminating in yesterday's fiasco which confirmed my worst fears that in fact he has not changed and this will most likely cost us the title.

A draw would be good enough in Turin, beating scouse would have put us top, should have been our strongest last night and a bore draw in Italy, we won't fucking win the CL anyway.

Would it?
They would still win the group if they beat Sevilla and we failed to beat BMG. Even if they drew with Sevilla they'd win the group if we lost to BMG.
But I agree we should have played our strongest team yesterday.

I've just read Delph's interview on the OS. Here is one of his comments.............

"Obviously the new manager they’ve got has implemented a system to press high. We expected that and we knew what they were going to come with"

So why the hell did MP put out that starting eleven??

we just dont work hard enough off the ball. we need mobile centre mids who have technical ability to get to that next level. central midfield has to be our top priority next summer in the transfer market, no matter the cost.
