Liverpool Post Match Thread

We win in Turin , we do not draw Bayern , Real or Barca in the next round , we lost to the dippers and we have twenty odd games to recover , i will help you work it out. Would i swap beating the dippers for a champs league quarter final ? Give me the champs league quarter final every time .
Give me a team that will win the PL 3 seasons on the trot then let me worry about a Champs League quarter final. We should concentrate on winning the PL every season.
When we are good enough we will progress in the Champs League. At the moment we will not beat Real , Barca, Bayern , or PSG.

We could

Top the group, get an easy draw, then you're on the verge of the Quarter Finals and anything can happen. Atletico Madrid and Juve both appeared in recent finals and a full strength City team is as good? I think so anyway.

We need to progress and improve. Only way to do it is to play against the best.

But doesn't excuse getting beat at home to Liverpool. Just knocks confidence

Mae West said when she's good she's very, very good but when she's bad she's very, very bad. Pelligrini's tactics appear to be the same and not working out the opposition's tactics, just we'll send out an eleven who've produced in earlier games and won. Not good management. Just expectation regardless of the opposition.

I noticed on an earlier post that person seemed to think that a couple of 'Pool's goals were offside.
I thought their third may have had an element of offside - what do others think?
And this is not an attempt to blame inept officials, just curious - because we were bloody awful and fully deserved the bloody nose we got.

we just dont work hard enough off the ball. we need mobile centre mids who have technical ability to get to that next level. central midfield has to be our top priority next summer in the transfer market, no matter the cost.

Don't forget we urgently need two top quality full backs too.

Goodbye Pellers. Thank you for the memories. Big change at the end of the season. You know it, so Champions League is your swan song.

Why does a decent win in Turin vindicate that fucking car crash performance?

I'm still trying to fathom out Pellergini's thinking behind picking that team. He must have had Juve in his thoughts as to why he left Otamendi and Fernandhino on the bench. He seriously underestimated Liverpool thinking he could use the squad to plug a few gaps and rest players.

He absolutely must have had the Juventus trip on his mind when it came to the team selection on Saturday!

It completely defies logic to have Nico and Fernandinho on the bench otherwise against Liverpool. At the end of the day, it's a long old season and the league is recoverable over the course of 38 games. The Champions League allows little room for error. Topping the group will be massive for us, and hopefully be a springboard to going further than ever before in the competition.

Any team can have an awful day at the office, but my biggest concern is that it's not the 1st time this has happened this season. We have been completely dismantled twice now - Spurs and Liverpool. I'm actually worried about the 2 games we have against a pacey Arsenal team, going to Anfield, Spurs coming to us, and a probably resurgent Chelsea by the time we go the Bridge.

nope, none of them were offside. all were very close but onside each time

In many ways this was the "perfect storm". Best central defender and midfield player in the league missing, top scorer not match fit, our next two best players getting back from South America late and being omitted accordingly, two players who were with the French squad at the Stade de France, against a decent team with the new manager bounce, with a real sense of grievance against the club and one of its players, whose two beat best players didn't travel in midweek and an early own goal to set them on their way. Hopefully, it won't happen again.

Demichelis started. He was in South America. Unless they travelled back separately seems that Otamendi was rested because of the Champions League.

He played for Argentina twice and we can't afford to lose him with Kompany being out so there is a pressure not to play him every game.

Arsenal have been prioritising the Premier League over the Champions League this season resting players who weren't 100% in advance of Premiership games. We seem to be doing the opposite. When you're already missing key players and then you add to it by taking Fernandinho and Otamendi out, it's too much.

2 days later and the disappointment at the manner of this defeat is just as hard to take. Normally by Monday it's dissipating and you focus on the next game. I think the Klopp factor is the main reason for this. I'm actually very jealous of their coup in getting him.
A win against Southampton and a loss or two for our rivals and I'm sure things will look better, cosmetically at least.

it doesn't help that our three best players Aguero Silva and Kompany are also our most injury prone

Agree with Aguero and Kompany, but I would say that Silva is just more prone to getting the shit kicked out of him by piss poor defenders every time he steps on the pitch
